Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) announced that a temporary walkway will connect the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) Gombak station to the Gombak LRT station by December, while a permanent pedestrian bridge, extending to the Gombak Integrated Terminal, is anticipated by March 2027.

In response to public concerns, MRL is ensuring that passengers' safety, comfort, and mobility, including those with luggage, are prioritized, with a proposed shuttle service under discussion.

These initiatives aim to integrate pedestrian access and public transport, solidifying the ECRL Gombak station's role as a key transport hub.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 — Passengers using the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) Gombak station will have a temporary walkway to the Gombak LRT station when services begin in December, while a permanent covered pedestrian bridge linking the two is set for completion by March 2027, Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) said today.

In a statement this morning, MRL said the bridge will also extend to the Gombak Integrated Terminal (TBG), while the temporary walkway will run through existing connecting areas and Prasarana facilities.

It said the temporary route will take into account passengers’ safety, comfort and ease of movement, including for those carrying luggage.

It added that it is also in talks with Prasarana on a proposed shuttle service between the two stations as an additional option, particularly for passengers with luggage.

MRL was responding to public concerns over passenger movement between the ECRL Gombak station, the Gombak LRT station and TBG.

It stressed that pedestrian access and public transport integration at the station had been factored into the ECRL project’s development plans from the outset.

The company said providing pedestrian access is part of its effort to ensure the ECRL Gombak station functions as a public transport hub integrated with the existing rail and transport network.

It also gave an assurance that temporary access is being arranged to meet passenger needs when services open, while the permanent bridge is completed in stages.
