A man in his 50s, reported missing five days ago, was found deceased in a locked car outside a supermarket in Jalan Impian Mahkota, Kuala Lumpur.

The discovery of the vehicle, located approximately 15 minutes from his home, ended the family's search that gained traction on social media.

Authorities, alerted by passers-by, confirmed there was no initial evidence of foul play, and the case is classified as a sudden death report.

Investigations are ongoing to ascertain further details regarding the cause of his death.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 — A man who went missing five days ago was found dead inside a locked car parked outside a supermarket in Jalan Impian Mahkota late last night, ending a desperate search by his family that had circulated on social media.

Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said authorities were alerted to the stationary vehicle at 11.29pm after passers-by spotted a motionless figure in the front cabin, NST reported.

"Initial investigations found a man, believed to be in his 50s, lying unconscious in the driver's seat of a Perodua Axia.

"The engine was off and the car was locked from the inside," he said.

Responding officers enlisted the help of the Fire and Rescue Department to pry open the locked doors, after which medical personnel from Hospital Kajang examined the victim and pronounced him dead at the scene.

Naazron confirmed that the victim's family had lodged a missing person report last Tuesday after repeated attempts to reach his mobile phone went unanswered. The vehicle was discovered approximately 15 minutes away from his residence.

"Preliminary investigations have so far found no foul play at the scene or on the deceased. The case has been classified as a sudden death report (SDR).

"Further investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the incident and his death," he said.

Yesterday, images circulated online showing police cruisers and fire rescue trucks cordoning off a vehicle in the supermarket car park.
