Residents in Singapore can look forward to a good three-day stretch of improved air quality as winds turn to blow from the southwest or west.

In its daily haze situation update on Sunday (Oct 25) evening, the National Environment agency said showers are expected over Singapore and its vicinity from Monday to Wednesday.

"With winds expected to blow from the southwest or west, the likelihood of smoke haze affecting Singapore may be reduced," the agency added.

The forecast applies till Wednesday, but will be updated daily.

Singapore's 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) forecast is expected to be between 70 to 100 — in the moderate range.

At 9am, PM2.5 is in the normal band (0 - 55 µg/m3) across all five regions.

Meanwhile, PSI ranges from 68 in northern Singapore to 74 in the western region.

Readings of between 0 and 100 are in the good-to-moderate range.

Members of the public should still check the latest hourly PM2.5 concentration readings before taking part in outdoor activities.
