Minibus driver trapped in seat after 5-vehicle accident in Bedok, 3 taken to hospital

A 38-year-old male minibus driver was trapped in his seat and had to be rescued by firefighters after a five-vehicle accident in Bedok on Monday (Sept 7) afternoon.

The incident happened at about 1.35pm at the junction of New Upper Changi Road and Bedok South Avenue 1.

Photographs and a video of the accident seen by AsiaOne show a white minibus with significant damages to its driver cabin area.

The front part of the vehicle is lodged into the traffic light, while a row of road divider fencing is dislodged.

An unidentified eyewitness was caught on video telling another person that the driver's head was pressed against the bus' windscreen and that he had to be extricated by firefighters.

In response to AsiaOne's queries the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) stated that the trapped driver was rescued by firefighters using hydraulic rescue tools.

He was taken to Changi General Hospital, along with a 31-year-old male lorry driver and a 35-year-old male car driver.

All three injured persons were conscious when they were taken to hospital.

The police told AsiaOne that the minibus driver is assisting with ongoing investigations.

视频显示，一名身份不明的目击者告诉另一个人，司机的头部被压在公交车的挡风玻璃上，消防员不得不将他救出来。

针对 AsiaOne 的询问，新加坡民防部队 (SCDF) 表示，被困司机已被消防员使用液压救援工具救出。

他被送往樟宜综合医院，一同被送往医院的还有一名 31 岁的男性货车司机和一名 35 岁的男性轿车司机。

三名伤者被送往医院时意识清醒。

警方告诉亚洲新闻网，小巴司机正在协助进行调查。
