No Call for People in Thailand to Stockpile on Necessities – Say PM

Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior have come out to say that he has not heard of any calls to stockpile necessities be it food or gasoline in Thailand.

Anutin addressed reports that several countries around the world have advised their citizens to stock up on at least 72 hours’ worth of food and water in preparation for potential emergencies. He stated that he was not yet aware of this but added that while the public should always remain mindful of the possibility of an emergency, there is no need for alarm.

The Office of the National Security Council (NSC) of Thailand also came out to clarify that reports advising citizens to stockpile food, medical supplies, and essentials for 72 hours to cope with the Middle East conflict are entirely false.

The NSC confirmed that no such warning or directive has been issued by the agency. Authorities have urged the public not to panic and to avoid spreading or believing in unverified information.

The NSC continues to closely monitor the situation in the Middle East and collaborates with relevant departments while advising citizens to rely exclusively on official government channels for accurate news.

Recently 33 countries worldwide, including European nations like France, the UK, Germany, and Asian nations like Taiwan and Japan, are advising citizens to stock up on essential supplies to prepare for potential emergencies.

Requirements vary by country, with many suggesting at least 72 hours of provisions, while others recommend preparations for a week or up to 10 days. Recommended emergency supplies typically include non-perishable food, drinking water, medications, flashlights, batteries, and battery-powered radios.

Governments emphasize that these advisories are proactive measures to build preparedness against various risks, ranging from natural disasters like earthquakes to other unexpected crises.

PM Anutin files case against smear campaign and MP from Orange party

Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, instructed his personal lawyer to file a police report at the Thong Lo Police Station against 26-year-old Chaiyarat—the operator of the Facebook page “Godd Dam”—and Rakchanok Srinok, a party-list Member of Parliament from the People’s Party.

The action follows the publication of a fabricated bank transfer slip for 7 million Baht on the “Godd Dam” page, which listed Anutin as the recipient and alleged the sum was a “tea money” (bribe) payment. Rakchanok subsequently shared the post containing the fake slip on her social media.

The lawyer has initiated legal action, pressing charges for defamation by publication and violations of the Computer-Related Crime Act, requesting that the police proceed with the case in accordance with the law.

Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul stated that the government is fully prepared to face the opposition’s proposed no-confidence debate under Section 152, dismissing claims of government unreadiness.

Responding to opposition leader Natthapong Ruangpanyawut’s remarks about delaying the debate to December, Anutin questioned the opposition’s readiness, noting that the government had already set aside October 27–29 for the session and accused the opposition of lacking coordination.

Anutin criticized the opposition leader’s approach, alleging a lack of complete information and poor internal communication. He added that while he has been frequenting parliament this week in anticipation of the debate, future scheduling will depend on his upcoming international duties and extensive official responsibilities.

It is reported that on October 28, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, had his team deliver large ceremonial candles as an offering to the Chao Mae Thapthim Shrine at Saphan Lueang, Bangkok. The deity enshrined there—Chao Mae Thapthim—has been venerated for over a century and is renowned for her benevolence and sacred power. Many people visit the shrine to pay their respects and seek blessings for success in their careers, businesses, and personal relationships.

On October 29, the House Committee on Legal Affairs, Justice, and Human Rights, chaired by Rangsiman Rome, convened to investigate financial trails linked to online gambling platforms, specifically examining Gulf Binance. Former Democrat MP Sirichok Sopha attended to provide information, noting that previous investigations had already uncovered transactions connected to the gambling site Shuffle—including over 100 million Baht via Bitkub and roughly 200,000 Baht via Maxbit—underscoring the need for stricter SEC oversight and enhanced blockchain transaction tracking to prevent money laundering.

However, several key individuals and officials were absent from the hearing, including Digital Economy and Society (DES) representatives, MP Suchada Zhang Thaensap, and her husband, as well as several committee members from the Bhumjaithai and Pheu Thai parties.

Sirichok clarified that while cryptocurrency trading itself is legal, utilizing digital assets to fund illegal gambling violates the Gambling Act. He also questioned whether cryptocurrency exchanges properly utilize advanced risk-scoring tools like Blockchain Analytics, pointing out that tighter scrutiny should be enforced proactively rather than waiting for regulatory mandates in 2027.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul will undertake an official visit to Bhutan from October 30 to November 1, 2026, marking the first visit by a Thai prime minister in 8 years.

The trip aims to celebrate 37 years of diplomatic relations and prepare businesses to leverage the Thailand-Bhutan FTA launching on January 1, 2027. During the visit, Anutin will hold bilateral talks, sign 3 cooperation agreements, and have an audience with the King and Queen of Bhutan.

He will also attend “Project 108” in Gelephu, joining a ceremony to build 108 stupas in one day to mark the development of Bhutan’s new smart city and explore economic opportunities for Thai investors.

On October 29, the Royal Gazette published a Royal Decree calling for an election to fill a vacant seat for a Member of Parliament in Sa Kaeo Province, Constituency 3. As the seat for Sa Kaeo Constituency 3 has become vacant, an election must be held within 45 days of the vacancy—unless the remaining term of the House of Representatives is less than 180 days—necessitating the issuance of this Royal Decree.

Surasak Chingnawan, the MP for Sa Kaeo Constituency 3 (representing the Kla Tham Party), passed away on October 24 at the age of 63, following a battle with liver cancer.

Chada Thaised, a Member of Parliament for Uthai Thani from the Bhumjai Thai Party, made a surprise appearance as a guest singer behind the wall on the popular TV show “The Wall Song” (Rong Kham Kampheng). He sang the well-known inspirational song “Roy Yim Nak Su” (Fighter’s Smile) by Sek Loso.

Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas reported that the government’s property stimulus measures—specifically the reduction of transfer and mortgage fees—have successfully boosted the real estate sector, driving a 17% increase in housing ownership transfers during the first half of 2026.

Additionally, cooperation with the Bank of Thailand (BOT) to relax loan to value (LTV) measures has helped real estate lending rebound from negative territory to achieve 12% growth.

To address the issue of high loan rejection rates—a major obstacle for borrowers today—the Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the Bank of Thailand, has launched the “SME Credit Boost” initiative. This program aims to alleviate concerns regarding non-performing loans (NPLs), encouraging commercial banks to approve and extend credit to individuals and small-scale SME operators.

Furthermore, state-owned specialized financial institutions will leverage the guarantee mechanisms provided by the Thai Credit Guarantee Corporation (TCG) to offer additional loan backing, thereby bolstering the confidence of financial institutions.

Vitai Ratanakorn, Governor of the Bank of Thailand (BOT) announced plans to introduce 5 regulatory measures between November 2026 and March 2027, targeting Thai Baht stablecoins, cash gold transactions exceeding 10 million Baht, Buy Now Pay Later services, credit bureau fees, and money changers.

Highlights from its October 29 Governor Connect review emphasize a dual focus on macroeconomic stability and economic recovery. Monetary easing over the past year has brought the policy rate down from 1.50% to 1.00%, alongside targeted relief measures such as assisting 182,000 retail loan accounts through Sukhumvit Asset Management, providing 80 billion Baht in SME loans via SMEs Credit Boost, and cutting 19 financial service fees to save customers up to 8 billion Baht annually.

Looking ahead to 2027, the central bank will prioritize managing household debt, improving credit access for small businesses, and strengthening oversight of non-bank financial providers. To facilitate these goals, the BOT plans to launch an SMEs Credit Portal in January 2027 to seamlessly connect businesses with lenders, while simultaneously working on a modernized credit guarantee mechanism and alternative data-sharing frameworks.

Korn Chatikavanij has urged the government to directly address high oil prices by reducing the excise tax on B7 diesel, arguing this would provide more immediate and effective relief to the public than other measures. He warned that the state Oil Fund’s debt has surged past 100 billion Baht, posing a severe fiscal risk.

In addition to handling the mounting fund debt, he called for genuine, substantive reforms to the country’s refinery pricing structure. He stressed that tackling structural pricing issues is essential to lowering domestic energy costs sustainably and preventing further financial burdens on consumers.

Korn also urged the government to urgently review its “People’s Solar Rooftop” project, arguing that the current criteria unfairly exclude over 1,500 small and medium-sized local contractors. The regulations for favoring large corporations, which could lead to subcontracting practices and unfair cuts to local technicians’ profits. Korn highlighted four major concerns, including excessively high bank guarantee requirements, a burdensome 7-year warranty obligation, and an unrealistic target of installing one million rooftops in a year. He warned that these unfeasible goals and stringent barriers risk wasting public loan funds and failing to genuinely support grassroots green energy adoption.

The Oil Fuel Fund Management Committee has not announced any changes to fuel prices; however, it has adjusted the fuel price subsidy rates. The subsidy for ‘Diesel B7’ has been reduced by 1.14 Baht, bringing it to 1.79 Baht per liter, while the subsidy for ‘Gasohol 95/91’ has been lowered by 0.78 Baht, resulting in a new subsidy rate of 0.83 Baht per liter. These changes take effect on October 30, 2026.

The Committee also has issued a new announcement, effective November 1, 2026, revising the contribution and compensation rates for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The updated directive adjusts the fund contribution rates for domestically produced LPG from various natural gas separation plants while establishing a standardized compensation rate of 11.9054 Baht per kilogram. Additionally, exporters permitted to ship LPG abroad must refund the corresponding compensation rate of 11.9054 Baht per kilogram back to the fund.

Signed by Pailin Fungkiat, Acting Director of the Finance and Accounting Office, the announcement serves to adjust internal fund allocations and regulatory contributions rather than directly altering retail cooking gas prices for consumers. The measure replaces the previous regulations issued on October 1, 2026, ensuring continued financial management within the national oil fuel subsidy system.

Concerns are growing over the competitiveness of Thai SMEs as spending on 20 foreign digital platforms reached 138.7 billion Baht in the first half of 2026, with major outflows driven by Shopee 69.8 billion Baht, Facebook 15.1 billion Baht, TikTok 12.6 billion Baht, Lazada 12.0 billion Baht and Agoda 5.7 billion Baht. While part of these payments went to local vendors, substantial sums in commission and service fees flowed directly overseas.

People’s Party MP Pawoot Pongvitayapanu acknowledged the government’s temporary six-month fee reduction agreement with Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop, but cautioned that it acts merely as a short-term fix before fees likely rise again after May 31, 2027.

He urged lawmakers to expedite the Digital Platform Economy Bill, enforce fee transparency, introduce fair trading regulations, and allow seller data portability. He further advocated for long-term structural measures, including targeted support for domestic platforms, digital export initiatives, workforce upskilling, rigorous monitoring of cross-border financial transactions, and equitable tax collection from foreign platform operators.

Property consultancy Savills forecasts that Bangkok’s ultra-luxury condo prices could surpass 1 million Baht per square metre, driven by soaring land costs and strong demand from high-net-worth buyers. The growth is heavily fueled by branded residences offering premier services, which command an average 31% price premium over standard luxury properties.

Regarding the top 5 highest-priced land transactions in Thailand reveals that the competition to acquire land in the heart of Bangkok is not a recent phenomenon, but rather a trend that has persisted for several years within the country’s prime locations:

Land on Sarasin Road, acquired by Sansiri Public Company Limited at 3.90 million THB per square wah. (2020)

Land formerly occupied by the Sri Fueangfung Building, acquired by SC Asset Corporation Public Company Limited at 3.50 million THB per square wah. (2024)

Land in Soi Langsuan, acquired by SC Asset Corporation Public Company Limited at 3.10 million THB per square wah. (2018)

Land in the Chit Lom area, acquired by Sansiri Public Company Limited at 3.00 million THB per square wah. (2024)

Land in the Thong Lo area, acquired by Shangri-La Hotel Public Company Limited at 2.80 million THB per square wah.(2019)

Thailand’s branded residence market has reached 220 billion Baht across nearly 18,800 units, with 650 new launches expected in 2026, primarily in Bangkok and Phuket. However, experts caution that high pricing and branding alone do not guarantee investment returns, requiring developers to balance land costs with true value.

The SET Index closed at 1,544.60 points yesterday, down 21.50 points or 1.37%, with a trading value of 68,972.46 million Baht. The index experienced a sharp decline, primarily pressured by the petrochemical sector—specifically PTTGC and SCC. This followed the release of SCC’s third-quarter 2023 earnings, which fell short of market expectations, fueling investor concerns that PTTGC might report similarly weak results and triggering sustained selling in both stocks.

Meanwhile, the refinery and energy sectors faced pressure from concerns regarding potential government policy changes to the domestic fuel pricing structure, which could impact the business outlook for companies in these sectors. Additionally, heavy selling in DELTA—a large-cap stock with significant weight on the index—exerted further pressure on the Thai stock market, leading to a notably negative close.

As for the market outlook today, the index is expected to trade sideways within a range, with resistance at 1,560 points and support at 1,530 points.

PTT Global Chemical (GC) CEO Narongsak Jivakanun announced a joint venture with SCG Chemicals (SCGC) to consolidate their domestic olefins and polyolefins businesses, creating a combined capacity of 7.1 million tons per year.

The strategic partnership aims to enhance competitiveness across the supply chain, establishing the entity as ASEAN’s first polyolefins producer and targeting a top 10 global ranking.

Valued at 186.514 billion Baht—with GC contributing 104.448 billion Baht (56% stake) and SCGC 82.066 billion Baht (44% stake)—the deal is expected to deliver annual synergies of $150–200 million (approx. 5.1–6.8 billion Baht) within three years. Pending shareholder approval in December 2026, the transaction is projected to be completed in the second half of 2027.

Yuanta Research views the joint venture between PTTGC and SCGC as a positive long-term strategic move. The partnership is expected to boost production efficiency, cut costs, and strengthen the competitiveness of Thailand’s petrochemical industry amid global market pressure from persistent oversupply.

The firm estimates the synergy will boost SCC’s profits by 8–11% (adding 15–20 Baht per share) and PTTGC’s profits by 12–16% (adding 5–7 Baht per share). Yuanta maintains a “Trading” recommendation for both stocks, setting target prices of 300 Baht for SCC and 57 Baht for PTTGC.

Gulf Development PCL (GULF) has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Gulf Renewable Energy (GRE), acquired a 50% equity stake in Ubon Wealth 1 Company Limited from Ubon Bio Agricultural for approximately 107.6 million Baht. Ubon Wealth 1 develops two ground-mounted solar farms in Thailand—Ban Khi Lek 1 (40 MW) and Nok Ten 1 (50 MW)—totaling 90 megawatts of contracted capacity. These projects have secured 25-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with EGAT under the Feed-in-Tariff (FiT) scheme at 2.1579 Baht per kilowatt-hour, with commercial operations scheduled to begin in 2029.

GULF stated that this investment will add 45 megawatts of equity capacity to its renewable portfolio, helping mitigate fuel price volatility and easing electricity cost burdens for households and industries. The initiative aligns with the company’s strategic target to increase its renewable energy share to at least 40% by 2035. It also supports Thailand’s broader energy transition toward cleaner and more secure power, strengthening the nation’s long-term economic competitiveness.

Reports suggest that up to 29.4 billion Baht worth of renewal energy projects have sought permission from the various authorities to start their business.

Total of 7 projects generating more than 550 MW of electricity in north, northeast and southern parts of Thailand have sought the application for starting their businesses.

On October 29, 2026, five major refinery and petrochemical stocks—TOP, BCP, SPRC , IRPC, and PTTGC—saw their combined market capitalization drop to 529.767 billion Baht. This represents a single-day loss of 37.623 billion Baht from 567.390 billion Baht recorded at the end of October 28, 2026.

The sharp decline was driven by heavy selling pressure as investors became concerned over potential government measures to restructure national fuel pricing structures. The market reaction reflects heightened anxiety regarding the impact these policy changes might have on the sector’s future profitability.

Bualuang Securities assesses that the Energy Policy Administration Committee’s decision to restructure fuel prices will negatively impact the refinery sector’s profitability. Effective permanently from October 29, 2026, the resolution removes hidden expenses—such as transportation, insurance, loss, and oil reserve costs—from the ex-refinery price calculation formula, representing a total estimated value of around 10 billion Baht per year.

Preliminary estimates suggest this measure will weigh on the refinery sector’s 2026 earnings forecasts by approximately 1–2%. Furthermore, the impact on 2027 profits is projected at around 12% for BCP, 24% for IRPC, 16% for SPRC, 10% for TOP, and 8% for PTTGC.

Kobsak Pootrakool, Senior Executive Vice President of Bangkok Bank (BBL) said the investment in Indonesia’s Permata Bank remains a long-term strategic asset that requires no impairment provision despite recent share price declines. BBL noted that Permata generates steady, recurring income rather than one-off gains, reporting a 9-month net profit of 4.8 billion Baht and a Q3 profit of 1.6 billion Baht in 2026.

Asset quality remains sound with an NPL ratio of 2.1% and a strong NPL coverage ratio of 373%, though net interest margin (NIM) slightly compressed to 3.9% amid macroeconomic and regulatory uncertainties in Indonesia.

The decline in Permata’s stock price stems primarily from low liquidity and a restricted free float, alongside broader Indonesian market volatility, rather than reflecting its true long-term value. To address this, BBL is currently working to expand Permata’s free float and improve stock liquidity, while also evaluating a potential delisting from the stock exchange as a future alternative.

On October 29, 2026, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana presided over the official opening ceremony of Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal, the “Nakhon Withi” Light Red Line commuter train route, and the “Thani Ratthaya” Dark Red Line commuter train route.

Accompanied by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and senior transport officials, Their Majesties also toured the “Evolution of Thai Railways” exhibition, which highlights the history of the nation’s railway system, the expansion of commuter networks, and plans to develop the station area into a modern smart commercial hub.

Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal—a royal name meaning “the great prosperity of Bangkok”—serves as Southeast Asia’s largest railway hub, replacing Bangkok Station (Hua Lamphong).

Thailand plans to raise the tariff on completely built units (CBU) of electric vehicles starting January 1, 2027. This move should benefit those firms that have set up a production plant in Thailand while impacting those that are relying on simple import and selling in Thailand.

The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a severe weather warning across 37 provinces, forecasting heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong gusts. Bangkok and its surrounding metropolitan area face a 40% chance of rain, with authorities advising residents to remain vigilant against potential flash floods and runoff in low-lying and foothill areas.

The unstable weather is driven by a low-pressure cell moving over the Andaman Sea toward the Bay of Bengal, combined with easterly winds and a moderate high-pressure system from China covering upper Thailand. Additionally, maritime conditions in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are expected to feature waves exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorm zones, prompting warnings for all vessels to proceed with caution.

Drama @ Suvarnabhumi Airport’s

Suvarnabhumi Airport has come out with an official statement after an incident of a parent having heated debate about their baby’s water bottle being allowed onboard or not.

Suvarnabhumi Airport’s came out with a statement from AOT Security Services (AOT AVSEC) and Airports of Thailand (AOT) which clarified a social media incident occurring on October 23, 2026, at Suvarnabhumi Airport’s domestic departure checkpoint.

The dispute arose after security staff enforced safety regulations on a passenger carrying liquid items—including two water bottles, gels, and sprays—in excess of allowed limits in their carry-on bag. While staff attempted to assist by providing a specific water bottle for the passenger’s children, conflict escalated when the passenger requested staff to clean the set-aside bottles.

Due to high passenger volume, immediate cleaning was not possible, leading to passenger dissatisfaction and subsequent personal insults directed at the staff member’s family.

AOT AVSEC affirmed that the officer maintained professional conduct throughout the encounter, acting in full compliance with national and international security standards. The agency emphasized its commitment to ongoing staff training in patience and service mindset while remaining open to feedback to improve overall service standards.

Suvarnabhumi Airport explained that heavy rainfall and elevated groundwater levels caused a runway surface depression that trapped a China Airlines flight (CI840 bound for Kaohsiung) on the western runway (02R) during the night of October 28, 2026. The excessive moisture and weight pressure compromised the pavement structure, prompting the temporary closure of the runway while emergency teams safely evacuated all 116 passengers and 8 residents by 9:16 PM without any injuries.

Airport authorities successfully removed the aircraft by 11:10 PM and completed full surface repairs, allowing runway 02R/20L to reopen safely at 6:30 AM on October 29. China Airlines arranged hotel accommodations, meals, and replacement flights for the affected travelers, while Suvarnabhumi Airport confirmed that ongoing safety inspections and maintenance measures remain strictly enforced across all airfield operations.

Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul defended his decision to revoke the Thai citizenship of Rabbi Yosef Chaim Kantor, head of Chabad of Thailand, stating the action strictly complied with the law.

Speaking after signing the October 28 order, Anutin emphasized that naturalized citizens are obligated to adhere to regulations regarding travel and personal conduct within the country. While he refrained from announcing further criminal charges, he asserted that responsible authorities must enforce the law decisively to maintain peace and order in Thai society.

The revocation order officially cited Kantor’s continued use of his American nationality following naturalization as the primary legal grounds. However, the decision coincides with broader, ongoing government investigations into suspected nominee businesses and corporate entities connected to Chabad.

The Ongkorn Thamdee Foundation has temporarily suspended Panadda Wongphudee from her role as chairwoman and frozen all donation channels pending an investigation into the construction finances of its facilities in the Rangsit area.

Vice-chairwoman Pornphan Phumarin has been appointed as acting chairwoman while the foundation audits construction expenses—which involve offices, storage for disaster relief supplies, and shelters—overseeing payments that were previously approved based on details provided by a project coordinator who currently remains unreachable. While social assistance operations will continue subject to resource availability, the foundation stated that legal action will be pursued if clear evidence of wrongdoing emerges from the audit. The suspension and donation freeze will remain in effect until the financial review of the construction project and the conduct of the involved individuals are fully concluded.

Thailand continues to face significant road safety challenges, recording approximately 50 fatalities daily or 15,000 per year, according to Deputy Transport Minister Siripong Angkasakulkiat. To work toward a long-term goal of zero road deaths, the Ministry of Transport is discussing potential safety measures for elderly drivers. Inspired by models like Japan, proposed ideas include performance assessments for senior motorists and incentives to voluntarily surrender lifetime driver’s licenses in exchange for benefits such as free public transit passes.

In addition to elderly driver policies, the ministry is upgrading safety standards for school transport vehicles. Plans include introducing new license plates, specialized stickers, and standardized lighting to make school buses easily identifiable. The urgency of these regulations is highlighted by recent inspections of roughly 16,000 school transport vehicles, which revealed a 20% failure rate.
