KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 31 — The tax literacy programme implemented by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRB) throughout the 2026 HASiL Month has involved nearly 300,000 taxpayers nationwide.

Its chief executive officer, Datuk Dr Abu Tariq Jamaluddin, said various programmes were implemented throughout October to raise public awareness of taxation and the agency’s role.

“During this period, we have conducted several activities, including the HASiL Literacy Tour, under which we have carried out 251 tours across the country to engage with communities and explain issues related to taxation,” he told reporters during the closing ceremony of the 2026 HASiL Month here today.

Abu Tariq noted that IRB also received nearly 50,000 responses through surveys to gather public opinions on taxation and the services provided by the agency.

He said the feedback included views collected this year as well as in previous years.

“Among the focuses of the 2026 HASiL Month is promoting the voluntary declaration programmes for stamp duty and e-Invoice, with the stamp duty programme ending at the end of this year and the e-Invoice programme at the end of next year,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said IRB also encourages the public to provide information about individuals or companies suspected of underreporting their taxes through the e-Tax Escape platform.

“The information we receive will be kept confidential,” he added. — Bernama
