KULAI, Nov 1 — Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients aged 40 and above are urged to make full use of the PeKa Sihat (Healthcare Scheme for the B40 Group) initiative, which offers various free health screenings and treatments starting next year following an RM80 million government allocation.

Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching said this group and their spouses qualify for the benefits automatically without going through a complicated registration process.

“Checks can be done easily via the official PeKa Sihat website by entering their identity card numbers to verify eligibility and find the list of participating private clinics,” she told reporters after the Bukit Permai state constituency Deepavali contribution presentation ceremony at the Arulmigu Mariamman Temple here today.

She noted that a key benefit of the initiative is free health screenings at private clinics to detect conditions such as diabetes and high cholesterol, thereby easing congestion at government health facilities.

PeKa Sihat also provides medical equipment aid of up to RM20,000, covering items such as heart stents, artificial joints, hearing aids, pacemakers, and intraocular lenses for cataract surgery.

A special RM1,000 incentive for cancer patients to complete their treatment and a hospital transport allowance are also provided.

Administered by ProtectHealth, PeKa Sihat is a government healthcare initiative aimed at encouraging eligible Malaysians to undergo health screenings and identify health risks early.

It was previously reported that as of September 2026, 2.1 million Malaysians had undergone health screenings under the programme.

In 2025, 328,302 individuals were screened under PeKa Sihat, with 44.5 per cent found to have at least one previously undetected health issue.

Meanwhile, touching on today’s programme, Teo said about RM100,000 in aid had been distributed in the Kulai parliamentary constituency in conjunction with this year’s Deepavali celebration through cooperation with temples and welfare associations.

She added that the contribution aims to ease the local community’s financial burden in preparing for the festival. — Bernama
