From ghostly firefighters to superhero MPs, people across Singapore got creative with their Halloween outfits and celebrations, each putting their own spin on the spooky occasion.

In an Instagram post on Sunday (Nov 1), Bukit Batok Fire Station shared photos of firefighters with white towels draped over themselves and glasses perched on their heads, giving them a ghostly appearance.

The firefighters were seen posing inside a fire engine, as well as standing behind an SCDF fire engine while sporting their makeshift costumes.

Accompanying the photos was a caption: "Don't worry, we're still on standby. Just don't expect us to answer the doorbell."

Meanwhile, the police also joined in the Halloween fun with a spooky-themed social media post reminding residents to stay alert and safeguard their homes.

"It's 3am, you live alone, and you realise you aren't the only one laughing," the post read.

"Sometimes that spooky 'gut feeling' isn't a ghost at all. Stay alert, safeguard your home and know that if someone breaks your peace, our officers are ready to step in."

From costumes to community spirit

Beyond the spooky costumes, Halloween also saw people coming together for celebrations across the island.

Former MP Amrin Amin joined in the festivities by dressing up as a Foodpanda delivery rider for the Chip Bee Gardens Halloween street party.

In a social media post, he joked about potentially switching to Grab if the benefits were better.

"Might switch to Grab if the benefits are better. Are they?" he wrote.

Beyond the costume, Amrin took the opportunity to show appreciation for actual food delivery riders, who continue working through different weather conditions.

"The real riders keep our orders coming, through heat, rain or haze. Go easy on the ratings if they're running a little late. Much respect," he added.

Over in Keat Hong, residents also came together for a night of Halloween festivities.

In a social media post, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim shared highlights from the area's Halloween Fright Night, which featured a best dressed competition.

Zhulkarnain also joined in the festivities, dressing up as what appeared to be a Marvel superhero.

"Residents of all ages turned up in an array of costumes, ranging from adorable little monsters to more elaborate Halloween outfits," he wrote.

He added that the event was about more than just a night of spooky fun, as it brought the Keat Hong community closer by giving neighbours opportunities to connect, share joyful moments and build meaningful friendships.

"It is this strong sense of togetherness that makes Keat Hong such a vibrant and welcoming place to call home," he added.
