A video of a migrant worker giving two Singaporeans a lift after midnight has gone viral online.

The video, posted by Instagram user Richelle, shows her and a friend sitting in the back of a pickup lorry at night.

She explained that they were in an "'ulu' place", a local term for a remote or isolated area, and had been unable to get a ride on any ride-hailing platform for about 30 minutes.

"[We] asked a few Singaporeans for a lift to somewhere with more visibility to no avail," wrote Richelle.

The pair eventually approached a migrant worker and asked if he could drop them off nearby. He agreed immediately.

"He agreed with zero hesitation. I don't even think I completed my sentence," Richelle said, touched by the stranger's act of kindness.

In her caption, she wrote: "This video really goes to show Singapore's migrant workers have the biggest hearts."

The pair later learnt that the foreign worker was sleeping at East Coast Park because his shift starts at 3am and it was 12am at the time.

He told the pair that this was his regular sleeping schedule and he only gets the weekends off, after he completes his eight-hour shifts.

Richelle shared her gratitude towards the hardworking man on social media, highlighting that the language differences between the pair and the worker did not matter that night.

"Perhaps the shared language has always been humanity," she wrote.

The foreign worker also told them that he could not wait to go back to India for a month in January.

He added that he could not describe the "agony" and the "heartbreak" he will inevitably face when he has to leave for work in Singapore again.

"I miss many moments of my son growing up. It's not easy," said the worker.

Her video has amassed over 6,000 likes on Instagram with over 127,000 views. On TikTok, the same video has garnered over 42,000 views and more than 5,500 likes.

Netizens praised the man's generosity, with some even asking whether the pair offered to pay for the lift as a form of courtesy.

One Instagram user shared their personal experience working alongside migrant workers, saying how they often offer drinks and remind the user to "hydrate" despite themselves bracing through the heat.

Another user commented: "Only those who have been through hard times and have gone through ups and downs will understand how you were feeling."
