A man who was seen taping his mobile phone to the rear of an SBS Transit double-decker bus has defended his actions amid online safety concerns, claiming he staged a stunt and that his phone was not attached to the bus.

In a social media post on Monday (Nov 2), the man addressed concerns from netizens, explaining that the footage was filmed using a DJI camera mounted on another motorcycle .

"We didn't actually paste the phone on the bus and we filmed the entire video at 7am, so nothing was illegal," he said, suggesting that the phone taped to the bus was not used to record the footage but was instead part of the staged scene.

In a separate video shared after his explanation, the man appeared to repeat the stunt by taping his phone to another bus, accompanied by the caption: "For part 2, let's go. Let us know where should I paste next?"

The clarification came after the initial video, shared on social media on Nov 1, showed the man, dressed in a black sweater, approaching the rear of an SBS Transit bus and using yellow tape to attach a mobile phone to it.

He then returned to his motorcycle and rode behind the bus, seemingly filming content using the phone attached to the vehicle.

Following the video's circulation, SBS Transit lodged a police report over the incident.

Responding to queries from AsiaOne, SBS Transit spokesperson Grace Wu said that the transport operator is aware of the incident.

"We take a very serious view of this incident, which we do not condone, as it may put the safety of the individual and other road users at risk. We have since lodged a police report on the matter," said Wu.
