It’s Election Day in America , and the outcome of these midterms could profoundly change the direction of the country.

Right now, Republicans hold a slim majority in both houses of Congress. But President Donald Trump’s low approval rating has given Democrats hope that they can flip the balance of power .

For Democrats to take control of the Senate , they will need to pick up four Republican-held seats while holding onto all their own. For Democrats to regain the House majority , they need to gain three seats.

More than 55 million ballots were cast before Election Day, with early voting well ahead of the pace set in 2022’s midterms.
