After the Democrats flipped control of both the House and the Senate, victorious candidates celebrated their historic wins in victory speeches across the country.

Texans took to the streets to celebrate the state flipping from red to blue for the first time in years. James Talarico won the Texas Senate seat, the first Democrat to do so in 38 years, while Gina Hinojosa will become the first Latina governor of Texas, ending a more than three-decade Republican hold on the seat.

The 2026 midterm elections brought a wave of historic wins throughout the US. CNN explains those historic firsts.

A key Iranian leader and negotiator, Mohammed Bagher Ghalibaf just posted his views on the US midterm elections on X. CNN's Nic Robertson reports.

Texas Senator-elect James Talarico and Governor-elect Gina Hinojosa toasted their historic wins at a Whataburger in Austin, Texas.

Michigan Democrat Abdul El-Sayed addressed supporters before the race had officially been called, taking aim at President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance while expressing confidence in a victory. El-Sayed is set to become the first Muslim elected to the US Senate.

Democrat Troy Jackson defeated five-term Republican Sen. Susan Collins in Maine, despite only becoming his party's nominee in July.

A series of victories by Democratic socialists and other progressives across the country is set to expand the Democrats' influence in Congress.
