Man allegedly steals motorcycle in Woodlands; arrested within 8 hours

A 21-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday (Sept 2) for allegedly stealing a motorcycle from a carpark in Woodlands.

Police said on Thursday afternoon that the alleged theft, which happened at a carpark on Woodlands Drive 14, was reported at about 9.45am on Wednesday.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Woodlands Police Division identified and arrested the man within eight hours of the report being lodged.

The stolen motorcycle has since been recovered.

He will be charged in court on Friday with the offence of theft of a motor vehicle.

If found guilty of the same offence, the man could be jailed for up to seven years and fined.

The police also reminded motorcycle owners not to leave their spare keys or transponders inside any storage compartments of their motorcycle.

They should always remove the ignition key and lock their motorcycles, whenever they are left unattended.

一名21岁男子于周三（9月2日）被捕，据称他从兀兰的一个停车场偷走了一辆摩托车。

警方周四下午表示，这起涉嫌盗窃案发生在兀兰14号道的一个停车场，报案时间为周三上午9点45分左右。

通过后续调查和警方摄像头拍摄的图像，兀兰警署的警员在接到报案后八小时内确认并逮捕了该男子。

被盗摩托车现已找回。

他将于周五在法庭上被控犯有盗窃机动车罪。

如果被判犯有同样的罪行，该男子可能被判处最高七年监禁并处罚款。

警方还提醒摩托车车主，不要将备用钥匙或遥控器留在摩托车的任何储物箱内。

他们离开摩托车时，应该始终拔出点火钥匙并锁好车门。
