Sarawak govt to channel RM100,000 to each family of FDS helicopter crash victims

The Sarawak State Government has pledged RM100,000 to each family affected by the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter crash in Long Lellang.

Additionally, they will cover the educational expenses of the victims' school-aged children through the Sarawak Foundation.

Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg emphasized this support as a commitment to alleviating the families' burdens and acknowledging the sacrifices made by the FDS personnel.

The crash occurred during FDS flight operations and involved a BO-105 helicopter with five individuals on board.

KUCHING, Sept 9 — The Sarawak State Government will channel a contribution of RM100,000 to each family of personnel involved in the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter crash in Long Lellang, yesterday.

In a statement on social media by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), the state government announced it will also fully cover the education fees of the victims’ children who are still in school through the Sarawak Foundation.

“Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg agreed that the assistance be channelled as a sign of the Sarawak State Government’s concern to help ease the burden of the families and the next of kin involved.

“The full payment of the education fees also reflects appreciation for the sacrifices of the personnel who have provided services to the people, especially the community in the interior,” the statement said.

Yesterday, the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) announced that a BO-105 helicopter carrying five individuals including the pilot crashed near Long Lellang Short Take-Off and Landing Airport (STOLport), Ulu Baram, about 929 kilometres from Kuching.

According to CAAM, it received information about the incident from the Flight Information Service at 3.58 pm and the helicopter was conducting FDS flight operations. — Bernama

昨天，马来西亚民航局（CAAM）宣布，一架载有包括飞行员在内的五人的BO-105直升机在距离古晋约929公里的乌鲁巴南龙乐浪短距起降机场（STOLport）附近坠毁。
