Zahid to meet Negeri Sembilan MB over statement on proclamation involving Tuanku Muhriz

Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is set to meet Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim during the party's general assembly to discuss a controversial proclamation involving the state ruler, Tuanku Muhriz Almarhum Tuanku Munawir.

The meeting aims to clarify Ismail's reported claim that he signed the proclamation under duress.

Despite rumors of resignation, Zahid emphasized that the state government remains stable and intact, refuting claims that Aminuddin has stepped down as menteri besar.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 — Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said today he will meet Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim during the party’s general assembly to seek an explanation over his statement regarding a proclamation involving the state’s ruler.

Zahid said Ismail would meet him during the assembly, which began yesterday, although he did not specify when the meeting would take place.

“Yes, he will certainly meet me during this general assembly, and he will give an explanation. I will ask him about the background to his statement,” Zahid told reporters at the media centre here.

Asked when the meeting would take place, Zahid said: “The general assembly has already begun. I can give him a time to meet at any time.”

Ismail had reportedly said he signed a proclamation concerning the state’s ruler, Tuanku Muhriz Almarhum Tuanku Munawir, under duress.

He subsequently lodged a police report over the matter.

Zahid had yesterday denied reports that Aminuddin had resigned as menteri besar amid the dispute, saying the state government remained intact.
