Pardons Board postpones decision on Najib’s clemency application

The application for clemency by former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has been delayed to a future session of the Federal Territories Pardons Board, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Department.

The board's 63rd meeting took place in Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya.

During the session, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim approved the release of 65 prisoners, with non-citizens mandated to return to their home countries within six months.

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 11 — Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s clemency application has been deferred to a future sitting of the Federal Territories Pardons Board, the Prime Minister’s Department said today.

In a statement, it confirmed the board held its 63rd meeting this morning for Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya.

“The application for pardon by Datuk Seri Najib Razak has been postponed to a meeting of the Pardons Board that will be held later,” the department said.

Yang di Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim consented to the release of 65 prisoners during the session, with all non citizens ordered to be repatriated to their countries of origin within six months.
