DNA tests pending for five victims of Long Lellang helicopter crash, says Sarawak police

The post-mortems of the five victims from the Flying Doctor Service helicopter crash in Long Lellang have confirmed that severe burn injuries were the cause of death.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah stated that further confirmation through DNA analysis is pending.

The crash, involving a BO-105 helicopter, claimed the lives of all aboard, including the pilot and four medical personnel.

KUCHING, Sept 11 — The post-mortems on all five victims of the Flying Doctor Service helicopter crash in Long Lellang last Tuesday were completed at 7.30pm yesterday.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said the cause of death for all five victims was severe burn injuries sustained in the helicopter crash.

“For now, we are awaiting the results of the deoxyribonucleic acid samples for scientific confirmation,” he told Bernama.

On Tuesday, the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia said a BO-105 helicopter carrying five individuals, including the pilot, had crashed near the Long Lellang Short Take-Off and Landing Airport.
