Fire Dept working with Public Service Dept to ensure welfare of two officers missing in Nepal

The Fire and Rescue Department will ensure the welfare of two officers missing after flash floods in Rasuwa, Nepal.

Discussions with the Public Service Department have been held regarding the officers' salaries and pensions.

Efforts continue to ascertain the status of 55 Malaysians still uncontactable after floods and landslides in Nepal and China.

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 14 — The Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) will ensure that the welfare of its two officers who remain uncontactable following flash floods in Rasuwa, Nepal last month is taken care of.

Its director-general Datuk Seri Nor Hisham Mohammad said the department had consulted the Public Service Department (PSD) on matters relating to the two officers’ salaries and pensions.

He said checks showed that JBPM headquarters deputy director of the Planning and Research Division Mohd Sani Harul is due to retire on September 23, while its Central Region Academy officer Mohd Fakhrul Munir Mohd Isa still has many years of service remaining.

“We will refer the matter to PSD regarding their welfare,” he told reporters at the Public Sector Human Resource Management Conference here today.

The two officers were among 10 Malaysians who departed for Nepal on Aug 24 to travel to Everest Base Camp (EBC).

The Foreign Ministry said today that 55 Malaysians remain uncontactable following the floods and landslides in Nepal and China, with efforts to establish the status of each individual still ongoing. — Bernama
