SINGAPORE – Passengers were evacuated from a train at Bukit Gombak MRT station on the morning of Sept 15 after smoke was seen coming out from below the train.
In a media reply , SMRT Trains president Lam Sheau Ka i said the incident happened at about 11.40am at the station, which is on the North-South Line .
Preliminary checks suggest that the smoke may have been caused by a faulty brake , said Lam.
All commuters were guided off the train by SMRT staff as a safety precaution. There were no reports of commuters needing medical assistance , according to Lam.
Lam said the train was withdrawn to the depot for further checks, and train services continued to operate normally.
In a video posted to Instagram b y sgfollowsal l, the platform of the above-ground station is seen crowded with commuters, some of whom are covering their nose s as smoke fills the platform.
SMRT employees can be seen speaking into walkie talkies and observing the empty and stationary train on the Jurong East -bound side .

新加坡——9月15日上午，武吉甘柏地铁站一列火车下方冒出浓烟，乘客被紧急疏散。
SMRT地铁总裁林秀佳在回复媒体时表示，事件发生在上午11点40分左右，地点位于南北线上的该车站。
林先生说，初步检查表明，冒烟可能是刹车故障引起的。
出于安全考虑，所有乘客均由SMRT工作人员引导下车。据林先生称，没有乘客需要医疗救助的报告。
林先生表示，列车已被拖回车厂进行进一步检查，列车服务继续正常运行。
