SEOUL, Sept. 16 (Yonhap) -- Foreign Minister Cho Hyun plans to visit Washington for talks with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio this week, Seoul's foreign ministry said Wednesday.

Cho is scheduled to depart for the United States on Thursday and hold talks with Rubio the following day (local time), according to the foreign ministry.

"The two sides will discuss a wide range of issues, including South Korea-U.S. relations, the Korean Peninsula and regional and global issues," the ministry said in a release.
