Police confirm body found in Perak waters is missing angler

Police confirmed the body found off Hutan Melintang is Mohd Sharil Abd Rahman, one of the three missing anglers since Monday.

The search and rescue operation continues for the remaining two missing anglers with multiple agencies involved.

Four of the seven missing anglers were rescued and treated in hospitals after their boat capsized.

SHAH ALAM, Sept 16 —Police have confirmed that the body of a man found floating in the waters off Hutan Melintang, Perak, this morning is one of the three anglers missing since Monday.

Klang Utara police chief ACP Ramsay Embol said the body was identified as Mohd Sharil Abd Rahman, 43, following identification by next-of-kin.

He said the search and rescue (SAR) team received information from fishermen about the discovery around 8.30 am before the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) brought the body to Hutan Melintang Jetty for further action.

“The body will subsequently be sent to Shah Alam Hospital for further procedures,” he said in a statement today.

Ramsay said the joint SAR operation to locate the two remaining missing victims is ongoing. It involves the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), MMEA, Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), and other relevant agencies.

“Further updates regarding the operation will be communicated from time to time,” he said.

Earlier today, Klang Utara deputy police chief Supt Mohd Rahimi Zainol said the body, tied to a drum and wearing a life jacket, was spotted in the waters off Bagan Sungai Belukang, Perak.

He added that according to survivors, all victims tied themselves to drums after their boat capsized near One Fathom Bank in the Straits of Malacca on Monday.

Selangor MMEA launched the SAR operation at 3.35 am on Monday after receiving reports of seven missing anglers. Four were rescued safely in Sekinchan waters on Tuesday and sent for treatment at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) and Banting Hospital.

The survivors were identified as Mohd Shairazi Abdul Aziz, 43; Mohd Rizal Mohamad Sadali, 45; Muhd Hamiszar Punirain, 45; and boat skipper Zulfikalnain Awang, 47.

The two anglers still missing are Muhamad Ridzuan Ruhaizat, 37, and Raja Mohd Rozi Raja Mohamad, 49.

莎阿南，9月16日讯——警方证实，今天早上在霹雳州胡丹美林当附近水域发现的一具男性尸体，是自周一以来失踪的三名垂钓者之一。

巴生北部警区主任拉姆齐·恩博尔助理警监表示，经近亲辨认，死者身份已确认为43岁的莫哈末·沙里尔·阿卜杜勒·拉赫曼。

他说，搜救队在上午 8 点 30 分左右从渔民那里得知了这一发现，之后马来西亚海事执法机构将尸体运到 Hutan Melintang 码头进行进一步处理。

“遗体随后将被送往莎阿南医院进行进一步处理，”他今天在一份声明中说。

拉姆齐表示，搜寻另外两名失踪者的联合搜救行动仍在进行中。参与行动的机构包括马来西亚皇家警察（PDRM）、马来西亚海事执法局（MMEA）、马来西亚消防救援局（JBPM）、马来西亚民防部队（APM）以及其他相关机构。

“有关行动的进一步进展将不时公布，”他说。

今天早些时候，巴生北区副警长莫哈末·拉希米·扎伊诺尔警监表示，在霹雳州峇眼双溪贝鲁康附近的水域发现了一具尸体，尸体被绑在一个桶上，穿着救生衣。

他还补充说，据幸存者称，周一，他们的船在马六甲海峡一寻浅滩附近倾覆后，所有遇难者都把自己绑在了油桶上。

雪兰莪州海事执法局（MMEA）于周一凌晨3点35分接到七名垂钓者失踪的报告后，立即展开搜救行动。周二，四名失踪者在适耕庄水域获救，并被送往东姑安潘拉希玛医院（HTAR）和万津医院接受治疗。

幸存者被确认为 Mohd Shairazi Abdul Aziz，43 岁；莫哈末·黎刹·穆罕默德·萨达里，45 岁；穆赫德·哈米萨尔·普尼兰 (Muhd Hamiszar Punirain)，45 岁；船长 Zulfikalnain Awang，47 岁。

仍然失踪的两名钓鱼者是 37 岁的 Muhamad Ridzuan Ruhaizat 和 49 岁的 Raja Mohd Rozi Raja Mohamad。
