16 motorists referred to Traffic Police for offences at Woodlands Checkpoint during September school holidays

A total of 27 motorists were caught for various traffic offences at Woodlands Checkpoint over the September school holidays , with 16 individuals referred to the Traffic Police for further action.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said on Friday (Sept 18) that stepped-up operations, conducted between Sept 4 and 13, were intended to detect and deter motorists who had committed traffic offences, offences engaged in queue cutting and displaying other dangerous road behaviour.

According to ICA, offences committed at the departure lanes included crossing double white lines, making illegal right turns, stopping in positions likely to cause danger, obstruction or undue inconvenience, and queue cutting.

Of these, 16 vehicles were directed to make a U-turn and re-queue, while eight drivers of foreign-registered vehicles were subjected to entry ban into Singapore for offences such as crossing double white lines and queue cutting.

The authority reminded motorists that it takes a "very serious stance" against those who violate traffic laws or do not comply with its officers' instructions at the checkpoints, thereby compromising the safety of other motorists.

In its advisory issued on Aug 31, the authority informed travellers that heavy traffic was expected at Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoints during the upcoming September school holidays.

It also reminded travellers to cooperate with its officers, observe lane discipline and follow traffic rules.

当局提醒驾车人士，对于违反交通法规或不服从检查站工作人员指示的行为，以及由此危及其他驾车人士安全的行为，当局将采取“非常严肃的态度”。

该机构在 8 月 31 日发布的公告中告知旅客，预计在即将到来的 9 月学校假期期间，兀兰关卡和图阿斯关卡将出现交通拥堵。

它还提醒旅客配合执法人员，遵守车道纪律和交通规则。
