Vitai Ratanakorn, Governor of the Bank of Thailand (BOT)The Bank of Thailand (BOT) has approved a draft regulatory framework for the Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) sector, scheduled for a public hearing in September 2026 before official implementation in Q4 2026. Under the new rules, BNPL operators must obtain a specialized license, stick to interest rates capped at 15–20%, limit credit lines to 20,000 Baht per user, and enforce a minimum age requirement of 18–20 years. Existing providers who fail to comply will be required to shut down.

The regulatory tightening comes as BNPL users in Thailand surged tenfold from 600,000 to 6 million over 4 years, with 45% of young consumers using the service for their first debt. Concurrently, the central bank plans to leverage AI to audit over 3,600 Non-Bank financial providers across 24 sectors to eliminate hidden fees and curb excessive interest rates that have reached up to 35%.

He also said on September 10, BOT and 5 financial institutions will jointly sign a declaration of intent to regulate the financial infrastructure and prevent it from becoming a tool for corruption and money laundering.

The goal is to establish clear guidelines, quickly block “mock accounts” or accounts receiving fraudulent funds within 1-2 days, and prevent Payment Gateway systems from supporting payments made by online gambling groups and fraudsters.

BOT’s Vithai also outlined three dimensions where Thailand currently maintains strong economic stability with very limited risk: price stability or inflation, which has remained below the 1-3 percent target range due to supply factors and domestic demand shifts; financial institution stability, backed by commercial banks having a capital-to-risk-weighted-assets ratio of 20 percent against a minimum 11 percent requirement; and the payment system, which features free QR payments and transfers ranked among the best global standards.

Addressing monetary policy limitations, Vithai explained that Thailand cannot utilize quantitative easing or significant reserve requirement reductions due to structural constraints. He also noted that lowering interest rates too much harms small depositors and senior citizens while lacking the targeted precision of fiscal policy. To address structural problems, the BOT has implemented targeted financial measures focusing on debt resolution, financial inclusion, tackling grey money, and corruption, alongside tightening regulations on non-bank financial businesses whose portfolios represent 55 percent of retail loan values.

Today at 8:30 AM, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul will preside over the first meeting of the Data Center Policy Committee (Data Center Board) at Government House. Deputy Prime Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas has been appointed as the chairman of the meeting.

The purpose is to expedite the review of laws, regulations, and guidelines from relevant agencies, close loopholes in oversight, and establish standards to systematically support the expansion of the data center industry, while ensuring safety, environmental protection, and public confidence.

Pollution officials detected hydrogen sulphide and petroleum-related volatile organic compounds at roughly three parts per million in drains near the EDGNEX BKK01 data centre on Rama IX, addressing a fuel odor residents reported for two months. While the concentration poses no immediate fire or explosion risk, officials noted a fuel smell near an indoor wastewater tank and expect lab results in two to three weeks to confirm health risks and the leak’s origin.

Meanwhile, the Department of Energy Business filed a police complaint against operator Daria Data Centre and Cloud Services Co Ltd—a subsidiary of Dubai-based DAMAC Group—for illegally storing 200,000 liters of diesel in six basement tanks. Although the company subsequently drained the fuel, the offense carries up to two years in prison, prompting Energy Minister Akanat Promphan to order citywide safety and environmental compliance inspections for all Bangkok data centers.

Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn Accelerates Laem Chabang Port Decongestion to Boost Japanese Investor Confidence and Protect Thailand’s Automotive Base

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn met with JETRO Bangkok President ABE Ichiro and executives from the Japanese Chamber of Commerce in Bangkok on September 3, 2026, to discuss infrastructure and logistics development. JETRO presented a business sentiment survey covering over 500 Japanese companies in Thailand for the first half of 2026, showing a business sentiment index of -6, with the second half projected at -7 amid challenges related to material and logistics costs.

To address these concerns and reduce supply chain costs, the Ministry of Transport is tackling bottlenecks at Laem Chabang Port by improving truck traffic flow, main internal roads, and empty container management. Furthermore, the State Railway of Thailand has allocated approximately 55 million Baht to upgrade areas around the Lat Krabang Inland Container Depot and is advancing PPP procurement to boost long-term rail freight transport efficiency.

The ministry is also expanding cargo capacity and free zones at Suvarnabhumi Airport through a third cargo terminal, the expansion of operator zones, and the implementation of Electronic Delivery Order services, digital warehouses, and automation systems. Additionally, the Ministry of Transport is developing a Transport Data Center to integrate land, rail, water, and air transport data.

Finally, addressing the transition in the automotive sector, Phiphat emphasized that the shift toward clean energy vehicles must proceed alongside efforts to maintain the strength of Thailand’s existing automotive and parts manufacturing base, supporting emission-reducing technologies to preserve the country’s competitive edge as a regional automotive manufacturing hub.

Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn Moves to Resolve Laem Chabang Port Congestion to Reassure Japanese Investors and Protect Thailand Automotive Base

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn met with JETRO Bangkok President ABE Ichiro and executives from the Japanese Chamber of Commerce in Bangkok on September 3, 2026, to discuss infrastructure and logistics development to support Japanese business operations in Thailand.

During the meeting, JETRO Bangkok presented a first-half 2026 economic sentiment survey of over 500 Japanese companies in Thailand, showing a business trend index of -6 with a forecast of -7 for the second half, as businesses face raw material and logistics cost challenges. Japanese business representatives urged Thailand to enhance infrastructure efficiency, particularly by linking Laem Chabang Port, the Lat Krabang Inland Container Depot (ICD), and rail systems, while upgrading Suvarnabhumi Airport freight capabilities.

The Ministry of Transport is addressing logistics bottlenecks at Laem Chabang Port by resolving truck congestion, improving internal main roads, and better managing empty containers. The State Railway of Thailand has allocated approximately 55 million Baht to improve areas around the Lat Krabang ICD and is accelerating public-private partnership procurement to boost long-term efficiency and increase rail cargo transport proportions.

Additionally, Suvarnabhumi Airport plans to expand cargo and free zone capacities, including developing a third cargo terminal, expanding operator zones, and implementing a One-Stop Service Electronic Delivery Order system. The Ministry is also developing a Transport Data Center to integrate land, rail, water, and air transport data while supporting the transition to clean energy vehicles alongside maintaining Thailand position as a key regional automotive production base.

Ministry of Commerce Reports 1.57 trillion Baht in FTA Utilization During First Half of 2026

The Ministry of Commerce revealed that the utilization of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) trade privileges during the first six months of 2026 reached 48,069.03 million US dollars, or approximately 1.57 trillion Baht. This represents a 7.33% increase compared to the same period in the previous year, with a high utilization rate of 80.83% of the total value of eligible export goods under FTAs.

Arada Fuangthong, Director-General of the Department of Foreign Trade, stated that the agreements with the highest utilization values were the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA), the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (ACFTA), the ASEAN-India Free Trade Area (AIFTA), the Thailand-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (JTEPA), and the Thailand-Australia Free Trade Agreement (TAFTA). Top export goods utilizing these privileges included fresh durians, motor vehicles for the transport of goods, synthetic rubber mixed with natural rubber, and precious jewelry.

The Ministry is actively pushing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to utilize FTAs to penetrate new markets, particularly in preparation for the Thailand-EFTA free trade agreement, which is expected to take effect in early 2027. Recent initiatives include the ‘Boost Up SMEs to FTA Market’ project, which recently brought entrepreneurs to Switzerland, Norway, and India to explore high-value and high-purchasing-power markets.

Chao Phraya Riverfront Property Market Surges as Major Developers Compete for Luxury Condos and Estates

Major real estate developers are fiercely competing to launch luxury condominiums and high-end residential projects along the Chao Phraya River bend to capture strong demand from both wealthy Thai buyers and foreign investors. Key locations experiencing intense development activity include Bang Pho, Samsen-Kiatกาย, Charan Sanitwong, Charoen Krung, Charoen Nakhon, and Siriraj, driven by proximity to mass transit electric train lines and major urban landmarks.

Prominent developers such as SC Asset, Land & Houses, and Pruksa are rolling out numerous projects. Notably, SC Asset announced the ‘Reference Bay River Bang Pho’ project spanning 13 rai with approximately 1,743 units, while Land & Houses is preparing the ‘Wan Vela Chao Phraya’ project on Samsen Road. Other notable developments include high-rises and mixed-use spaces across Charan Sanitwong, Charoen Krung, and Charoen Nakhon such as Sansiri’s ‘LOVE Charoen Nakhon’ and CMC’s ‘Montra Chao Phraya – Charoen Krung’.

Ultra-luxury riverside single-detached houses have also become exceptionally rare and expensive due to surging land costs. Projects like Noble Aqua Riverfront Ratburana start at 26.9 to 30 million Baht, while The Collection Riverfront by Altitude in Ratburana reached a record-breaking 515 million Baht per unit, reflecting the rising land values and high desirability of Chao Phraya riverfront locations.

Central Group Unveils ‘The Next Chapter’ Leadership Overhaul to Drive Multi-Billion-Baht Empire

Central Group has announced a major leadership restructuring under its ‘The Next Chapter’ strategy, appointing Wallaya Chirathivat as President to strengthen the senior management team as the 79-year-old retail and service conglomerate enters a new decade. Led by Executive Chairman and CEO Tos Chirathivat, the executive realignment aims to navigate a landscape marked by high volatility, rapid consumer shifts, and the transformative impact of artificial intelligence and technology.

With over 40 years of experience within the organization, Wallaya will connect capabilities across Central Group’s diverse business units and coordinate with external partners, government agencies, investors, and international networks. Her track record includes expanding Central Pattana’s mixed-use projects from 10 to 45 developments and achieving record 2028 financial results with 53,000 million Baht in revenue and 19,000 million Baht in profit, earning her recognitions such as Fortune Most Powerful Women Asia in 2024 and 2025 alongside Retail Asia Awards’ CEO of the Year 2024.

In addition to Wallaya’s appointment, Central Group established a new Board of Directors chaired by Prof. Emeritus Dr. Suthhiphand Chirathivat in early 2029, followed by a new Executive Committee (ExCom) in April 2029 led by Tos Chirathivat. Operating an empire spanning 18 countries, over 140 cities, and more than 7 million square meters of commercial space, the group generated over 520,000 million Baht in total revenue with a workforce exceeding 138,000 employees across its four core pillars: Central Retail Corporation, Central Pattana, Central Plaza Hotel, and Central Group Europe.

The House Committee on Legal Affairs voted 8-2 to formally summon Digital Economy and Society Minister Chaichanok Chidchob and Deputy Interior Minister Worasit Liangprasit on September 17 after they failed five times to testify about an alleged 40-million-Baht monthly bribe.

The inquiry stems from Chaichanok’s September 2025 parliamentary claim that he rejected a 40-million-Baht monthly bribe to spare 4,000 online gambling websites from crackdowns. Police only recently questioned the alleged intermediary, a man known as “Q,” who denied the offer and showed no linked evidence to the illegal sites. Committee Chairman Rangsiman Rome warned that Chaichanok could face legal scrutiny for false statements if no evidence materializes, while authorities could face dereliction-of-duty charges for delaying the investigation.

Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas stated he would welcome a new deputy finance minister to help handle the ministry’s workload amid Cabinet reshuffle speculation, though he emphasized the decision remains political and has not been discussed with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.

He noted that three ministers—Paradorn Prissananantakul, Siripong Angkasakulkiat, and Polapee Suwanchawee—are currently assisting him with public communications, Pheu Thai leader Julapun Amornvivat clarified that the potential reshuffle will not be addressed during an upcoming September 6 coalition dinner.

Bloomberg reports that Fitch Ratings views Thailand’s risks as decreasing ahead of its annual sovereign credit review, driven by improved political stability following the February elections and stronger economic resilience. While Fitch currently holds Thailand’s rating at BBB+ with a negative outlook—lowered from stable in September 2025—head of Asia-Pacific sovereign ratings Thomas Rookmaaker indicated that the political calm and potential 2026 growth upgrades driven by fiscal stimulus, investment, and AI export demand are favorable factors.

Despite these positive signals, Fitch has not confirmed whether it will restore the outlook to stable, as Thailand’s government debt hovers near 60% of GDP, though officials maintain that a planned 400-billion-Baht borrowing scheme will remain safely beneath the 70% statutory ceiling.

Meanwhile a new World Bank report titled “Building Thailand’s Future Today,” Thailand will not reach high-income country status until 2048 on its current trajectory, but it could accelerate this timeline to 2037 by doubling its per capita growth rate and overhauling its 35-year-old economic model. Unveiled by World Bank officials at the Bangkok Business Summit, the report serves as a critical stock take ahead of Bangkok hosting the IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings in October—its first time since 1991. The authors emphasized that while the nation’s previous growth strategy yielded success, it can no longer be relied upon to drive Thailand’s future economic development.

The report’s central proposition is that lifting annual real GDP per capita growth to 5.4% over the next decade could instead deliver that milestone by 2037, and it decomposes that target into a 2.9% baseline potential growth rate, topped up by an additional 2.5% points from four reform areas: 0.8 points from new industries, 0.7 from more dynamic firms, 0.7 from a stronger workforce, and 0.4 from more productive cities.

Three NBTC commissioners—Thanapant Raicharoen, Pirongrong Ramasoota, and Suphat Suphachalasai—boycotted a board meeting on Thursday after refusing to recognize Sarana Boonbaichaiyapruck as chairman, causing the session to collapse due to a lack of quorum.

The commissioners contend that a selection committee ruling removing Sarana remains legally active despite his pending Supreme Administrative Court lawsuit, allowing the remaining six board members to operate without him. Consequently, they requested an urgent meeting of the six commissioners on Friday, which the NBTC office is currently reviewing, alongside another session postponed by Sarana set for September 9.

The SET index closed yesterday at 1,576.92 points, up 1.85 points (+0.12%), with a trading volume of 64,483.60 million Baht. The index fluctuated in positive territory throughout the day, rebounding after US government bond yields slowed and the Baht strengthened. Additionally, there were no attacks on Iran in the past 1-2 days, with the US stating its mission was complete, causing oil prices to fall.

However, the stock market did not go far and remained sideways, fluctuating within a range, due to a lack of new factors and anticipation of US economic data to be released this evening, which will affect the Federal Reserve (Fed) meeting in mid-September. The market also faces uncertainty from the ongoing Middle East conflict between the US and Iran, which is impacting rising oil prices.

For today’s market outlook, support levels are at 1,570-1,572 points. If that level is breached, the next support level is at 1,550 points. Resistance is at 1,590 points.

The Public Debt Management Office (PDMO) will offer for sale the second series of Government Savings Plus Bonds for fiscal year 2026, totaling 4 billion baht, from September 4-15, 2026. This will be divided into two sales: 2 billion baht via the PDMO Wallet on the Paotang application and 2 billion baht via the Bond Connect Platform. The 3-year bonds offer an interest rate of 1.80% per year, and the 10-year bonds offer an interest rate of 2.80% per year.

Precious Shipping Public Company Limited (PSL) announced via the Stock Exchange of Thailand that its subsidiary, Precious Metals Limited, agreed on August 28, 2026, to sell the Supramax Bulk Carrier “M.V. Kanchana Naree” to an unrelated buyer for $14,590,000 or approximately 486.18 million Baht. Expected for delivery between September 11 and October 15, 2026, the sale aligns with PSL’s fleet rejuvenation strategy of replacing older vessels with younger, larger ones.

Following this transaction and including two ordered vessels awaiting delivery, PSL’s fleet will comprise 43 vessels with a total aggregate capacity of approximately 2,077,855 DWT.

Thai property developer Sansiri, through Sansiri Capital, has agreed to acquire full ownership of The Lake Como EDITION from Bain Capital and Omnam Group in a deal valuing the five-star Italian property at over €200 million (8 billion Baht).

Set to finalize by late September, the acquisition adds a 148-room luxury hotel—opened in March in Cadenabbia, operated by Marriott International, and boasting over 70% occupancy in peak summer at average rates exceeding €1,500 nightly—to Sansiri’s international portfolio alongside The Manner in New York, aligning with its strategy to expand high-end hospitality investments across major global cities and tourist hubs.

Street Protest on the Way?

Former media mogul and protest leader Sondhi Limthongkul announced the “Take Back Our Thailand” campaign, beginning with a rally and letter submission at the Israeli embassy to target alleged foreign and domestic illicit networks, with full details to be revealed on September 7. He is not seeking the government’s resignation, the former yellow-shirt leader urged supporters to join him in the streets to enforce the rule of law against illegal business interests.

Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul addressed reports that former People’s Alliance for Democracy leader Sondhi plans to hold a press conference on September 7 to mobilize masses into the streets to reclaim the country from grey capital.

Speaking at Government House, Anutin stated that Thailand and its people do not owe anything to anyone, emphasizing that the country belongs to all Thai citizens and therefore does not need to be reclaimed.

When asked if this development would cause any subsequent problems, Anutin responded that expressing opinions is the right of all citizens under the constitution, provided it remains within the boundaries of the law and the constitution, adding that there are no issues.

The House voted 266–108 to prioritize debating the renewed Deep South violence over reviewing the Election Commission’s (EC) 2024 and 2025 annual reports. While Bhumjai Thai MPs argued that the southern attacks demand urgent government recommendations, opposition members accused the coalition of manipulating the legislative agenda to dodge scrutiny regarding alleged 2024 Senate election-rigging.

Tensions flared during the session as People’s Party MP Rukchanok Srinok claimed the government was using southern violence as political cover, drawing a demand for retraction after suggesting Cabinet members were too afraid to visit the region.

MP Rangsiman Rome also accused Deputy House Speaker Mallika Jiraphanvanich of intentionally stalling to block the EC debate, while Democrat leader Abhisit Vejjajiva urged Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to appear. The House moved forward with the Deep South debate, postponing the EC reports.

Later the House of Representatives adjourned abruptly without resolving the urgent Deep South debate or voting on proposed measures following a heated dispute over a quorum check. The deadlock occurred when House Speaker Sophon Saram (Bhumjai Thai) called to postpone proceedings, citing fatigue after presiding alone for hours with 32 MPs still queued to speak and both deputy speakers absent.

Opposition list-MP Rangsiman Rome (People’s Party) strongly opposed the delay, warning it prolongs a critical security response and disrupts next week’s scheduled Election Commission report, while government MPs criticized the opposition for disrupting the session. Following intense exchanges from both sides, Speaker Sophon abruptly ended the sitting at 8:24 PM without holding a vote to forward the Deep South proposals to the cabinet or a standing committee.

People’s Party leader Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut later wrote: “Why are they so afraid of the EC report reaching parliament?”

People’s Party deputy leader Parit Wacharasindhu warned that appointing Pol Capt Piya Raksakul as the new Department of Special Investigation (DSI) chief could compromise ongoing Senate collusion probes, noting Piya’s participation on an Election Commission panel that voted 5–2 to recommend dismissing allegations against 229 suspects. The panel’s recommendation contradicted an earlier joint EC-DSI inquiry that found grounds for organized vote-buying and political collusion ahead of the full Election Commission’s September 14 ruling.

Parit further criticized the House Police Affairs Committee for focusing on retaliating against whistleblowers who leaked the case documents rather than investigating the alleged criminal association and money laundering.

Election Commission of Thailand Resolves to File Criminal Charges Against 28 Party-List MP Candidates

The Election Commission of Thailand has resolved to initiate criminal proceedings against 28 party-list MP candidates for knowingly running for office despite lacking qualifications or possessing prohibited characteristic

According to the Office of the Election Commission, the decision was reached during the commission meeting No. 51/2569 on Thursday, June 4, 2569, and released on September 3, 2569. The action applies to 28 individuals who are not currently members of the House of Representatives, following findings that they provided consent for political parties to list them for the party-list election while knowing they were ineligible.

The offense falls under Section 151 of the Organic Act on the Election of Members of the House of Representatives B.E. 2561 and its amendments. Under this provision, violators face imprisonment ranging from one to ten years, fines from 20,000 to 200,000 baht, and a 20-year disenfranchisement order mandated by the court.

Pro-democracy activist Promsorn “Fah” Weerathamjaree was transferred to the Corrections Hospital on Thursday after a two-month hunger strike and four days without water, initiated to demand bail to care for his ill parents. Detained since March 9 while appealing a two-year-and-10-month lèse-majesté sentence under Section 112, Promsorn escalated his protest when the Supreme Court denied his fifth bail application. Although the Department of Corrections reported stable vital signs, he is receiving intravenous fluids and close medical monitoring for fatigue caused by low blood sugar.

Thailand’s national women’s volleyball team was awarded 14.76 million Baht by the government after securing its fourth Asian championship title and earning its first-ever Olympic qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Games. The squad completed an undefeated six-match run, culminating in a 3–2 victory over host nation China in the final.

They were also awarded another 10 million Baht by Pete Bodharamik, the owner of Jasmine International Plc (JAS), the broadcaster of the tournament.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul officiated the reward distribution at Government House, which allocated 600,000 Baht to each player alongside bonuses for coaches and the Volleyball Association of Thailand. Anutin also joked that the celebrations had briefly stopped people from criticising the government. He later played volleyball with captain Pornpun Guedpard.

Tibordee Wattanakul, Director of the State Enterprise Policy Office (SEPO), announced plans to amend the Standard Qualifications for State Enterprise Directors and Employees Act to raise retirement age limits, adapting to Thailand’s aging society. SEPO aims to submit the preliminary proposal to the Cabinet within three months.

Under the proposed amendments, the maximum age limit for state enterprise board directors will increase from 65 to 70 years to retain high-caliber experts—drawing parallels to the legal sector where prosecutors and judges retire at 70. Additionally, the age cap for top executives (CEOs or Managing Directors) will raise from 60 to 65 years, allowing capable leaders who complete two terms to serve continuously until age 65.

The Kanuengsukasem family has donated land valued at more than 1 billion Baht to support construction of a new branch of Thailand’s National Cancer Institute in Bang Khun Thian.

Construction officially began on September 2, with the project intended to expand access to quality cancer care, reduce overcrowding, and accommodate growing numbers of patients from across Thailand.

The new facility is planned as an Advanced Cancer Center, combining modern cancer diagnosis and treatment technologies with medical education and research. The project aims to raise Thailand’s cancer-care standards toward international levels while creating stronger healthcare infrastructure for the country’s future needs.

Nikhom Kham Sompoi Mayor Defends 9.9 million Baht Solar Streetlight Project Amid Social Media Scrutiny

The Facebook page ‘STRONG Anti-Corruption Thailand’ raised questions regarding a 9.9-million-baht solar streetlight project implemented by the Nikhom Kham Sompoi Municipality in Mukdahan province. The project involved purchasing 148 sets of 50-watt LED solar streetlights with adjustable poles and steel pile foundations, totaling an approved budget of 9,916,000 baht and a winning bid of 9,906,000 baht, averaging approximately 66,932 baht per set. Social media users and the anti-corruption group questioned the necessity of installing the lights in close proximity to one another, requesting the municipality to disclose bill of quantities, pricing details, installation plans, and engineering calculations to ensure transparency and value for money.

In response to the public inquiry, Nikhom Kham Sompoi Mayor Chalong Butkan stated that while the project was initiated prior to his tenure, he considers the installation appropriate, cost-effective, and beneficial to the community. He explained that the road was previously dark and deserted with low traffic. The lighting now benefits a municipal stadium that hosts activities two to three times a week, serves various government agencies that regularly use the area, supports Wat Suphakon Nikhom Thammaram, and provides safe illumination for elderly residents who use the route for early morning exercise.

At 1:00 AM on September 4, a fire broke out in a recycling warehouse in Moo 5, Ban Sang Subdistrict, Bang Pa-in District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. The warehouse, covering approximately 1.5 rai, contained a large quantity of plastic bottles, paper scraps, and various other materials, causing the fire to spread rapidly and producing a large amount of black smoke. It took firefighters two hours to bring the fire under control.

Initially, there were no reports of injuries or fatalities. The cause of the fire is still under investigation as officials inspect the origin of the blaze and conduct a detailed investigation.

The Meteorological Department, issued a warning about heavy to very heavy rainfall in upper Thailand, stating that from September 4-7, 2026, upper Thailand will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas, especially in the North and Northeast regions. This is due to a monsoon trough passing over the northern and upper northeastern parts of Thailand, combined with a moderate southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
