Jurong Lake Gardens lights up for Mid-Autumn Festival

Lights by the Lake 2026 takes visitors on a journey through The Legend Of The White Snake, one of China’s most beloved folktales.

SINGAPORE – Colourful lanterns and illuminated installations are lighting up Jurong Lake Gardens, transforming it into a glowing Mid-Autumn wonderland.

Organised by the National Parks Board (NParks), the annual Lights by the Lake festival will run from Sept 19 to 27.

The 2026 displays are inspired by the Chinese folktale, The Legend Of The White Snake. The story is one of China’s four great folktales, and it tells of a romance between a mortal man and a female snake spirit.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Mooncake Festival, is traditionally a time for family reunions. Celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, it will fall on Sept 25 in 2026.

The nine-day festival spans the Chinese, Japanese and Lakeside gardens, with lantern displays, performances, concerts, heritage exhibitions and a food market.Visitors can take part in lantern-making activities by the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, attend movie screenings by Dementia Singapore for World Alzheimer’s Day a nd explore a lantern trail .

Mr Yeo Ruyun, who was at the preview on Sept 17 with his wife and two children, praised the dramatic and colourful visuals.

He said: “I am most impressed by the projection on the White Rainbow Bridge. There are also more cultural themes for this year’s displays.”

While the festival will run until Sept 27, the lantern and light displays will remain on show until Oct 4.

新加坡——五彩缤纷的灯笼和灯光装置点亮了裕廊湖花园，将其变成了一个璀璨夺目的中秋仙境。

由国家公园局（NParks）主办的年度湖畔灯光节将于9月19日至27日举行。

2026年的展览灵感来源于中国民间故事《白蛇传》。这个故事是中国四大民间传说之一，讲述了一个凡人男子和一条蛇妖之间的爱情故事。

中秋节，又称月饼节，是传统的阖家团圆节。它在农历八月十五日庆祝，2026年的中秋节是9月25日。

为期九天的节日横跨中国花园、日本花园和湖滨花园，活动包括灯笼展示、表演、音乐会、文化遗产展览和美食市集。游客可以在孙中山南洋纪念馆参与灯笼制作活动，观看新加坡痴呆症协会为世界阿尔茨海默病日举办的电影放映活动，并探索灯笼小径。

9月17日，叶如云先生携妻子和两个孩子出席了预展，他对影片戏剧化且色彩绚丽的视觉效果赞不绝口。

他说：“我印象最深刻的是投射在白色彩虹桥上的影像。今年的展览也融入了更多文化主题。”

虽然节日将持续到 9 月 27 日，但灯笼和灯光展览将持续展出至 10 月 4 日。
