In the incident at around 3.10 pm local time, a truck carrying 18 volunteer defence corps members was on its way back after undergoing boat-rowing training in Narathiwat city.

那拉提瓦府（马新社）：周五（9月18日）晚间，那拉提瓦府素吉林发生炸弹爆炸和枪战，造成两名志愿防卫队成员死亡，另有16人受伤。
事件发生在当地时间下午 3 点 10 分左右，一辆载有 18 名志愿国防军成员的卡车在纳拉提瓦市接受划船训练后返回途中。
