Woman confronts stranger trying to enter her home that's undergoing renovation

Another day, another stranger trying to enter someone's home to take a look while it's under renovation.

This time, it was Class 95 radio producer Lee Yoo Jin who was affected while she was alone at home.

In an Instagram post on Thursday (Sept 17), Lee can be seen trying to film a video when she hears the door open.

"I knew it wasn't my contractors 'cause the guy was struggling to open the door (it wasn't locked)," she wrote in the video.

As Lee opens the door, a man's voice can be heard repeatedly apologising: "Sorry, because I thought that..."

"Yeah, no, that's still not right," Lee told him.

Lee discovered that the intruder was a guest of her neighbour, who was having a housewarming party at the time.

As Lee confronted the man, he allegedly "made excuses that he was curious because there were many homes renovating."

"No, I feel like it's still not right. You shouldn't try to enter homes that are still renovating, right?” Lee says in the video.

"Like, do you go around opening people's homes like that?"

Lee added that her neighbour had apologised on his guest's behalf, which made her feel bad as the former had been "so nice" to her, even inviting her over to the same housewarming party.

She concluded the video with a simple: "Lock your homes, y'all."

Netizens commented, saying they were aghast at the man's actions, with many recalling a similar incident from earlier this month where several people were allegedly seen entering a Woodlands HDB flat undergoing renovation and just sauntering about.

"What’s with all this people entering people house that are under renovation? How kaypoh (nosy) and entitled must you be to do that?" a comment under Lee's post read.

Another read: "And some people on Facebook were saying, 'Where's the kampung spirit?' and defending such behavior. You don't enter someone's house unless invited. Period.

"These people should be shamed. Glad you stood firm and told him off."

A netizen who had a similar experience also pointed to potential legal ramifications.

"This actually happened to us. A bunch of aunties just came into our unit while renovation was ongoing, when our false ceiling works were in progress and materials were being shifted around," they wrote.

"Imagine if someone had gotten injured inside the unit, who would be responsible? The workers? The designer? The homeowner?"

Lee should report the matter to the police, a commenter suggested.

“比如，你会到处闯入别人家吗？”

李女士补充说，她的邻居替他的客人道了歉，这让她感到很内疚，因为这位邻居对她“非常好”，甚至还邀请她参加同一个乔迁派对。

视频结尾，她简单地说了一句：“大家锁好门窗。”

网友们纷纷评论，表示对该男子的行为感到震惊，许多人回忆起本月初发生的类似事件，当时有人看到几个人进入兀兰的一间正在装修的组屋，并在里面闲逛。

另一篇文章写道：“有些人还在脸书上说，‘乡村精神何在？’，并为这种行为辩护。未经邀请，你不能擅自进入别人的家。就这么简单。”

一位有过类似经历的网友也指出，这可能涉及法律后果。

“这事真的发生在我们身上了。装修期间，我们正在安装吊顶，搬运材料，一群阿姨突然闯进了我们的公寓，”他们写道。
