A 57-year-old man was apprehended after he fell from the 12th floor of a HDB block in Ang Mo Kio on Sunday (Sept 20) evening.
The incident happened at Block 645 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 at about 3.30pm.
Residents in the area told AsiaOne that he was not behaving normally and appeared to be incoherent.
An elderly resident, who lives at the adjacent block, told AsiaOne that he had attempted to enter her son's house on the 12th floor of the block.
"My son was not at home and only my grandson was in when he tried to enter their flat. So my son told him (grandson) to lock the door and wait for him," said the 65-year-old, who did not wish to be named.
According to the resident, the man then allegedly sat on the ledge.
Videos shared with AsiaOne by eyewitnesses show two safety life air packs deployed on the ground.
Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers are seen working on the rooftop, above where the man was seated, and along the corridor of the 11th floor.
Meanwhile, police officers could be seen talking to him from both ends of the corridor.
At times, the half-clothed man did not appear to be steady and almost lost his balance on at least two occasions.
The police told AsiaOne that responding officers found him sitting on the ledge outside a residential unit.
Officers from the Crisis Negotiation Unit were also activated as it was assessed that he might pose a danger to himself, the police said.
They added that he jumped of the ledge at about 6.20pm and landed on the safety life air pack.
He was then taken conscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where was subsequently apprehended under Section 7(1) of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act.
Under the Act, the police have the power to arrest anyone believed to be a danger to himself or other people.

9月20日（星期日）晚上，一名57岁男子从宏茂桥一栋组屋的12楼坠落，随后被警方逮捕。
事件发生在下午3点30分左右，地点位于宏茂桥6道第645座组屋。
该地区的居民告诉亚洲新闻网，他的行为异常，语无伦次。
住在隔壁楼的一位老居民告诉AsiaOne，他曾试图闯入她儿子位于该楼12楼的家中。
“我儿子不在家，只有我孙子在家，当时他试图进入他们的公寓。所以我儿子让他（孙子）把门锁上等他，”这位65岁的老人说道，他不愿透露姓名。
据该居民称，该男子随后坐在了窗台上。
目击者向AsiaOne提供的视频显示，地面上部署了两个安全生命维持气囊。
可以看到新加坡民防部队 (SCDF) 的官员在楼顶、男子所坐位置的上方以及 11 楼的走廊上工作。
与此同时，可以看到警察在走廊的两端与他交谈。
有时，这个半裸男子看起来站不稳，至少有两次差点失去平衡。
警方告诉亚洲新闻网，接警人员发现他坐在住宅单元外的窗台上。
警方表示，由于评估认为他可能对自己构成危险，危机谈判小组的警员也已介入。
他们补充说，他大约在下午 6 点 20 分从平台上跳下，落在了救生气囊上。
随后，他被送往邱德拔医院，当时他意识清醒。之后，他因违反《精神健康（护理和治疗）法》第 7(1) 条而被逮捕。
根据该法案，警方有权逮捕任何被认为对自己或他人构成危险的人。
