SEJONG, Sept. 21 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's exports surged 78 percent from a year earlier in the first 20 days of September, customs data showed Monday, driven by strong shipments of semiconductors.

Outbound shipments reached US$71.4 billion in the Sept. 1-20 period, soaring from $40 billion posted in the same period in 2025, according to the data from the Korea Customs Service.

It marked the highest volume for the 20-day tally, with the previous record standing at $61.7 billion posted in June this year.

Imports went up 26.7 percent on-year to $48.4 billion over the cited period, resulting in a trade surplus of $23 billion.

By product, exports of chips shot up 259 percent to reach $34.12 billion.

Exports of petroleum products and cars went up 47.8 percent and 9.3 percent, respectively, to $4 billion and $3.73 billion.

Other major winners included steel products and ships, whose exports increased 8 percent and 63 percent, respectively.

Exports of mobile devices, on the other hand, shed 0.4 percent to $1.24 billion.

By destination, exports to China more than doubled to $16.6 billion, with those to the United States also surging 118 percent to $14.2 billion.

The accumulated exports through Sunday this year, meanwhile, came to $764.9 billion, with the trade surplus reaching $225.5 billion.

世宗，9月21日（韩联社）——韩国海关周一公布的数据显示，受半导体强劲出货的推动，韩国9月前20天的出口额比上年同期增长了78%。

根据韩国海关总署的数据，9月1日至20日期间，韩国出境货物总额达到714亿美元，远高于2025年同期400亿美元的水平。

这是 20 天累计交易量的最高纪录，此前的纪录是今年 6 月创下的 617 亿美元。

报告期内，进口额同比增长 26.7%，达到 484 亿美元，贸易顺差为 230 亿美元。

按产品划分，芯片出口额飙升 259%，达到 341.2 亿美元。

石油产品和汽车出口分别增长了 47.8% 和 9.3%，达到 40 亿美元和 37.3 亿美元。

其他主要受益者包括钢铁产品和船舶，它们的出口额分别增长了 8% 和 63%。

另一方面，移动设备出口额下降了 0.4%，至 12.4 亿美元。

按目的地划分，对中国的出口额增长了一倍多，达到 166 亿美元；对美国的出口额也增长了 118%，达到 142 亿美元。

与此同时，截至周日，今年累计出口额达7649亿美元，贸易顺差达2255亿美元。
