Samsung Electronics breaks ground on HVAC production line in Gwangju

Samsung Electronics held a groundbreaking ceremony for a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) production line in the southwestern city of Gwangju on Monday.

The company plans to invest approximately 240 billion won ($173 million) to build a 21,500-square-meter HVAC production line at its Gwangju operations site.

The new production line, scheduled to begin operations in 2028, will manufacture HVAC products from FlaktGroup Holding GmbH, a Germany-based ventilation company that Samsung Electronics acquired last year.

"The launch of the new FlaktGroup production line will serve as another milestone in advancing our HVAC business, a key growth driver for the company," Roh Tae-moon, co-chief executive officer of Samsung Electronics and head of its device experience (DX) division, said at the ceremony.

Samsung said the new production line will strengthen its global production capabilities for advanced cooling equipment and centralized HVAC solutions as demand for cooling and HVAC solutions for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers continues to grow rapidly.

这条新的生产线计划于 2028 年开始运营，将生产 FlaktGroup Holding GmbH 的 HVAC 产品。FlaktGroup Holding GmbH 是一家总部位于德国的通风设备公司，三星电子于去年收购了该公司。

三星电子联席首席执行官兼设备体验（DX）部门负责人卢泰文在仪式上表示：“FlaktGroup 新生产线的投产将成为我们暖通空调业务发展历程中的又一个里程碑，而暖通空调业务是公司重要的增长动力。”

三星表示，随着人工智能 (AI) 数据中心对冷却和 HVAC 解决方案的需求持续快速增长，这条新的生产线将增强其全球先进冷却设备和集中式 HVAC 解决方案的生产能力。
