Tasik Bera enforcement: Five arrested, investigation papers to be referred to DPP

Police in Pahang have received 24 reports related to operations at Tasik Bera Conservation Forest Reserve, mainly from the Orang Asli community and enforcement personnel, according to Acting Pahang Police Chief Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob.

Investigations are ongoing regarding individuals arrested for allegedly obstructing officers, with papers to be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor.

Separately, police are investigating altercations at a religious school in Bukit Ibam involving teenage victims and suspects, with investigation papers also being prepared for the prosecutor.

A handover ceremony was held for Pahang Police Management Department, with SAC Mohd Fakhrurazie Che Sulaiman transitioning to a new role at Bukit Aman.

KUANTAN, Sept 22 — Police have received 24 reports in connection with operations at the Tasik Bera Conservation Forest Reserve in Bera as of yesterday.

Acting Pahang police chief Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob said the reports were lodged by members of the Orang Asli community and enforcement personnel.

“The operation is ongoing, and we urge the public to cooperate with enforcement personnel in carrying out their duties,” he told reporters after attending the handover-of-duties ceremony for the Pahang Police Management Department chief at the Pahang Police Contingent Headquarters here today.

Azry Akmar said the investigation papers on five individuals arrested on Sept 15 for allegedly obstructing enforcement officers during the operation would be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor soon.

Police had earlier arrested four women and a man, aged between their 30s and 60s, to assist in investigations under Section 186 of the Penal Code.

In an unrelated development, Azry Akmar said police had opened two investigation papers following a recent altercation at a religious school in Bukit Ibam, Rompin.

He said the first case involved two male victims, both aged 14, and five suspects who were Form Four and Form Five students.

“The second case involved another 14-year-old male victim and six suspects. Further investigations found that four of the suspects were also involved in the first case,” he said, adding that the investigation was being conducted under Section 147 of the Penal Code.

Azry Akmar said both investigation papers would be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor today for further instructions.

At the event, Azry Akmar witnessed the handover of duties between outgoing Pahang Police Management Department chief SAC Mohd Fakhrurazie Che Sulaiman and his successor, Supt Afandi Hussin.
