Build-to-Order (BTO) projects to be launched in Berlayar and Mount Pleasant will be recognised at the HDB Awards 2026, the housing board announced on Thursday (Sept 24).
Named Berlayar Residences and Mount Pleasant Crest respectively, the estates are among the 30 projects that have "distinctive design concepts" worthy of the awards.
The ceremony will be held on Friday.
Their respective design consultants, Look Architects Pte Ltd and 3PA Pte Ltd, will receive the Innovative Design Awards.
In particular, Berlayar Residences draws inspiration from the Southern Ridges and Singapore Strait, with its white, blue and brown colour palette mirroring the greenery and waterfront around it, according to HDB.
It also sports staggered block heights, reminiscent of a stairway leading down to the coast and opening up to a view of the Southern Ridges and the sea.
Nature is also a key aspect of Berlayar Residences, with playgrounds modelled on the smooth-coated otters and their habitats as well as other design features, HDB said.
"Together, these elements create welcoming spaces where families and neighbours can gather, play, and enjoy the outdoors," the board commented.
Over at Mount Pleasant Crest, 3PA Pte Ltd utilised the former Old Police Academy, weaving it into the development's architecture and communal spaces.
The academy's drill shed will be repurposed as a precinct pavilion, while parts of the swimming pool will be reused as seating for the HDB's drop-off porch.
The estate will also feature similarities and references to the academy's tropical colonial architecture, with a police car-themed playground for families to play in.
Other design award winners include Garden Vines @ Tengah and Garden Vale @ Tengah, designed by Design Link Architects Pte Ltd.
Another Design Award winner, Toa Payoh Ridge designed by Ong&Ong Pte Ltd, integrates the blocks with its surroundings, creating a stairway towards the low-rise neighbourhoods.
Costa Grove near Sungei Api Api and Pasir Ris Park, built by Chip Eng Seng Contractors, will receive the award for reducing the impact of construction on the surrounding biodiversity and safeguarding wildlife in the area with restrictions on work hours.
