Malaysia pledged US$1 million to the UNRWA for Palestine over five years, contributing US$200,000 annually until 2030.

Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan urged the OIC to push for an immediate ceasefire and called on Israel to end settler violence and illegal practices in Palestinian areas.

Malaysia appealed to OIC countries to strengthen Palestinian institutions and ensure accountability for Israel's violations of international law.

NEW YORK, Sept 25 — Malaysia has announced an additional contribution of US$1 million (RM4.07 million) to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to support humanitarian efforts in Palestine.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the contribution would be channelled in stages over five years until 2030, at US$200,000 annually, according to a report published by Berita Harian .

“We need to send a clear message that Palestinian statehood cannot continue to be a deferred promise.

“Therefore, Malaysia wants the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to push for an immediate and lasting ceasefire,” he said in his intervention at the OIC Annual Coordination Meeting of Foreign Ministers here today.

Mohamad said Malaysia also urged Israel to end settler violence in the West Bank, the illegal expulsion of Palestinians in Jerusalem, as well as any actions that could alter the identity of Jerusalem and its holy sites.

Malaysia also called on OIC member states to provide greater support in protecting, rebuilding and strengthening Palestinian institutions.

“This is to ensure accountability for violations of international law by Israel, including allegations of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity, as well as to demand appropriate compensation for the Palestinian people,” he said.

He said the OIC had a role in taking steps towards realising an independent, sovereign and viable Palestinian state in line with the two-state solution.

据《每日新闻》报道，外交部长拿督斯里莫哈末哈山表示，这笔捐款将在五年内分阶段拨付，直至2030年，每年20万美元。

“我们需要发出一个明确的信息，那就是巴勒斯坦建国不能再是一个遥遥无期的承诺。”

“因此，马来西亚希望伊斯兰合作组织（OIC）推动立即实现持久停火，”他在今天于此举行的伊斯兰合作组织外长年度协调会议上发言时说道。

穆罕默德表示，马来西亚还敦促以色列停止在西岸的定居者暴力行为、停止在耶路撒冷非法驱逐巴勒斯坦人，以及停止任何可能改变耶路撒冷及其圣地身份的行为。
