As of 4pm on September 27, five areas in Malaysia reported unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) levels, with four in Johor—Pasir Gudang, Kota Tinggi, Pengerang, and Larkin—and one in Sarawak, Serian.
API readings indicated moderate air quality in 51 areas, including Kuala Lumpur, and good air quality in 12 areas.
The API categorizes readings from 0-50 as good, 51-100 as moderate, 101-200 as unhealthy, 201-300 as very unhealthy, and 301 and above as hazardous.

According to data from the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), the areas in Johor recording unhealthy API readings were Pasir Gudang (161), Kota Tinggi (159), Pengerang (158), and Larkin (152).
Meanwhile, in Sarawak, only Serian recorded an unhealthy API reading, at 141.
A total of 51 areas, including Kuala Lumpur, recorded readings at a moderate level, while 12 areas recorded good readings.
