Yakin teams up with Hospital UMRA, bags two biotech records

KUALA LUMPUR: Yakin Splendour Global Holdings Bhd (Yakin) has formalised a strategic collaboration with Hospital UMRA and received two national recognitions from the Malaysia Book of Records through its subsidiary, Merkel Clinic Velocity.

The partnership with Hospital UMRA, a private multidisciplinary medical provider operating in Shah Alam since 2006, was sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Yakin director Datuk Steven Lai and Hospital UMRA founder and medical director Datuk Dr Mohamed Rafi Mohammed Feizal.

Located in Shah Alam’s Section 13, Hospital UMRA serves a broad and predominantly Muslim patient community, guided by a vision to be a ‘hospital of choice’ through accessible, compassionate and consistently high‑quality care.

The partnership combines Yakin’s specialised expertise in umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cell (UC-MSC) technology with Hospital UMRA’s clinical infrastructure and patient-centred healthcare services.

Both organisations aim to broaden access to advanced regenerative medicine while maintaining standards of quality, safety, clinical governance and patient care.

“Breakthrough science delivers its greatest value when it reaches the patient,” said Lai.

“Through this partnership with Hospital UMRA, we bring our UC‑MSC technology out of the laboratory and closer to patients – turning breakthrough science into real‑world healthcare solutions.

“Hospital UMRA shares our belief that advanced medicine must be delivered responsibly, compassionately, and within reach. Together, we are building a vital bridge between biotechnology innovation and trusted clinical care,” he added.

The partnership is expected to support greater knowledge exchange, clinical cooperation and public awareness surrounding regenerative medicine, while strengthening Malaysia’s capabilities in emerging areas of medical sciences.

Welcoming the partnership, Dr Mohamed Rafi noted that Hospital UMRA has always been guided by quality, integrity and patient welfare.

“Our partnership with Yakin opens the door to advanced regenerative medicine, developed and delivered within a responsible, ethically sound clinical environment. It brings us closer to realising our vision: to be the healthcare provider of choice for the Muslim community and across the Klang Valley. Merkel Clinic Velocity secures two Malaysia Book of Records awards

Separately, Merkel Clinic Velocity secured two national honours from the Malaysia Book of Records, recognising it as Malaysia’s first physoxic mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) provider and Malaysia’s first P4 normoxic mesenchymal Stem Cell (MSC) developer.

MSCs are widely used in regenerative medicine for their potential to support tissue repair, regulate immune and inflammatory responses, and form the foundation of future therapies. Cultivating these cells reliably through P4, a key laboratory growth stage, while maintaining full potency and consistency demands exceptional technical skill, rigorous standards and precision quality control.

Lai said these two records validate the company's pursuit of excellence and its rigorous research and development mastery.

The Hospital UMRA partnership and the two national records represent complementary pillars of Yakin’s long‑term strategy to connect laboratory innovation with clinical delivery and build national capabilities that benefit all Malaysians.

While the Hospital UMRA partnership strengthens the clinical outreach, the recognitions earned by Merkel Clinic Velocity demonstrate the group’s commitment to developing specialised regenerative medicine capabilities within the nation.

These milestones support Malaysia’s broader ambition to become a competitive regional centre for biotechnology, medical research, healthcare innovation and regenerative medicine.

此外，默克尔诊所 Velocity 还获得了马来西亚纪录大全颁发的两项国家荣誉，被誉为马来西亚首家物理氧间充质干细胞 (MSC) 提供商和马来西亚首家 P4 常氧间充质干细胞 (MSC) 开发商。

间充质干细胞（MSCs）因其在组织修复、调节免疫和炎症反应以及为未来疗法奠定基础等方面的潜力，被广泛应用于再生医学领域。在关键的实验室培养阶段（P4期），可靠地培养这些细胞，同时保持其完全活性和稳定性，需要卓越的技术、严格的标准和精准的质量控制。
