Police confirm excavator operator drowned after machine overturned during Tasik Bera cleaning work

An excavator operator, Alief Daniel Haqim Abdullah, 26, drowned after his machine overturned during cleaning work at Tasik Bera, Bera.

Bera district police reported that while another worker, Muhammad Aiman Fikri Mohd Azhar, 28, managed to escape, Alief was trapped in the machine.

The Pahang Fire and Rescue Department confirmed that Alief's body was found in the cabin and pronounced dead upon reaching the shore.

An autopsy will be conducted following the incident.

KUANTAN, Sept 28 — An excavator operator was found drowned after the machine he was operating overturned during cleaning work at Tasik Bera, Bera yesterday.

Bera district police chief Supt Zulkiflee Nazir said his team received a report regarding the incident at around 2.10pm Sunday.

He said the deceased was Alief Daniel Haqim Abdullah, 26, while another worker who survived was Muhammad Aiman Fikri Mohd Azhar, 28.

“Based on the information received, there were two workers at the time of the incident. One managed to escape while the other was trapped in the machine,” he said in a statement yesterday.

In addition, Pahang Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Mohd Salahuddin Isa said in a statement that the victim’s body was found trapped in the cabin of the excavator before being extricated at 4.10pm.

“The victim was unconscious when brought ashore before being pronounced dead by the health personnel who arrived at the scene,” he also said.

Zulkiflee added that the victim’s body was sent to the hospital for an autopsy. — Bernama

彭亨州消防救援部门证实，阿利夫的遗体在船舱内被发现，被送上岸后宣布死亡。
