The Malaysian passport has ascended to the second spot in The Passport Index Global Ranking 2026, reflecting its strong international acceptance.

As per the Immigration Department, Malaysian passport holders can access 175 destinations, including 129 visa-free and 46 visa-on-arrival destinations, while 23 require a visa.

The ranking data shows the United Arab Emirates (UAE) retaining the top position, with Singapore and Malaysia tied for second, followed by Spain in third place.

The Immigration Department said in a social media post that this achievement reflects the strength and international acceptance of the Malaysian passport.

“Based on the ranking, Malaysian passport holders have access to 175 destinations, comprising 129 visa-free destinations and 46 destinations with visa-on-arrival, while 23 destinations require a visa,” according to the post.

Based on data from www.passportindex.org, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) passport holds the top spot in the Passport Power Rank, followed by Singapore and Malaysia in second place.

Meanwhile, Spain’s passport ranks third, while 16 other countries, including Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, and Norway, share fourth place. — Bernama
