Fahmi Fadzil plays down Pakatan-Bersatu Melaka dinner

Communication Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil addressed speculation regarding a closed-door dinner attended by Pakatan Harapan and Bersatu leaders in Melaka, stating he has limited information and noting it was perceived as just a dinner.

News reports have fueled rumors of potential electoral cooperation between the parties for the upcoming Melaka state polls.

Fahmi emphasized that any decision on this matter would be made by the presidential council.

Notable attendees from both parties and other politicians were observed at the event.

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 29 — Communication Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said today he has little information about a supposed closed-door dinner attended by Pakatan Harapan and Bersatu leaders in Melaka last night.

“I don’t have that much information but I heard it was just a dinner,” he told a press conference after launching a free medicine postage programme here.

Several news outlets reported about the dinner held at a hotel in Melaka last night, fueling speculation that an electoral cooperation between Pakatan Harapah and Bersatu could materialise at the upcoming Melaka state polls.

Fahmi said any possible cooperation will only be decided at the top level.

“The presidential council will determine anything,” he said.

Among Bersatu leaders sighted at the dinner were information chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, the party's state election director Datuk Seri Mohamad Ali Mohamad, associate wing vice-chief and supreme council member Datuk Seri R. Sanjeevan and Melaka Bersatu information chief Datuk Hishamuddin Abdul Karim.

On PH side were Melaka Amanah chairman Datuk Ashraf Mukhlis Minghat and acting state PKR chairman Adam Adli Abdul Halim.

Also seen was Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia president Datuk Ibrahim Ali.

希盟方面则有马六甲诚信党主席拿督阿什拉夫·穆赫利斯·明哈特和公正党代理州主席亚当·阿德里·阿都哈林。
