Man accused of holding woman captive in Massachusetts attic for six weeks

A man is accused of kidnapping a woman he met on a dating app, holding her captive in a Boston-area attic and sexually assaulting her for six weeks before she was rescued.

29-year-old Jordende Pierre was arrested Thursday in Malden, Massachusetts, after the woman was found in the attic of an apartment building earlier this month, undressed on a mat and lying near a bucket of urine, according to CNN affiliates WCVB and WFXT .

“She clearly had not eaten, she was dirty, she was living essentially in squalor in this attic area,” prosecutors said in court Friday.

The woman, who has not been identified, was found in the attic on Sept. 20 by the apartment’s landlord and alerted authorities after arriving at the scene to fix a leak, prosecutors say.

“(The woman) was recovered and was brought to a safe place with her family,” Malden Police Chief Marc Gatcomb told WFXT.

A human trafficking investigation was launched and a joint-agency operation, involving US Marshalls and the Federal Bureau of Investigations, arrested Pierre at the location days later, US Marshals Service said in a statement .

Pierre has plead not guilty to charges of kidnapping, human trafficking, and indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, according to affiliates.

Documents in the case were ordered impounded Friday, WFXT told CNN.

CNN has reached out to Malden Police, the FBI, the US Marshal Service and the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors say Pierre allegedly met the woman on a dating app, picked her up from a rehabilitation facility and brought the woman back to the apartment, where he gave her drugs and forced the woman to engage in sexual encounters with at least six other men for money.

“She was then forced to engage in sexual encounters with men who would come to the house on dates that were arranged by this defendant,” prosecutors said in court footage aired by WCVB.

The woman was held against her will and the door handle of the attic was allegedly removed, preventing her from leaving the attic area, prosecutors said.

The landlord, Qing Sun, told NBC10 Boston in an exclusive interview that she and her husband had visited the property to check on a water leak. She said she called authorities after she discovered the woman in the attic.

“It’s a disturbing situation,” Sun said in a phone interview. “I’m very happy to be able to help this young girl get back to her family.”

Sun said Pierre was not one of her tenants and that she had no knowledge of anyone living in the attic, NBC10 reported.

“The allegations in this case are deeply disturbing. No person should ever be subjected to the violence, exploitation and loss of freedom alleged here,” said Dennis Matulewicz, head of the US Marshal Services for the District of Massachusetts, in a statement.

“When someone is accused of preying upon another person in this manner, the U.S. Marshals Service and our law enforcement partners will work relentlessly to find them and bring them before the court,” he added.

检察官称，皮埃尔涉嫌通过约会软件认识了这名女子，从康复中心接她回家，然后把她带回公寓，给她服用毒品，并强迫她与至少六名其他男子发生性关系以换取金钱。

“随后，她被迫与被告安排的、按约定时间来到她家的男子发生性关系，”检察官在 WCVB 电视台播出的法庭录像中说道。

检察官称，该女子被非法拘禁，阁楼的门把手也被拆除，导致她无法离开阁楼区域。

房东青孙在接受NBC10波士顿独家采访时表示，她和丈夫当时去这处房产查看漏水情况。她说，在阁楼里发现那名女子后，她立即报警。

孙女士在电话采访中说：“情况令人不安。我很高兴能够帮助这个小女孩回到家人身边。”

据 NBC10 报道，孙女士表示，皮埃尔并非她的房客，她也不知道阁楼里住着任何人。

“本案中的指控令人深感不安。任何人都不应该遭受此处所指控的暴力、剥削和剥夺自由，”美国马萨诸塞州地区法警署负责人丹尼斯·马图列维奇在一份声明中表示。
