Homegrown patisserie LUNA will be closing its doors on Dec 31.

LUNA, a popular Singaporean patisserie known for intricate cakes, will close on Dec 31 due to rising operational and ingredient costs.

The brand struggled to find a suitable physical space to grow and decided to end operations on its own terms, while Lucine by LUNA will continue independently.

Customers can buy cakes online and at Lucine until closure, with LUNA offering classic favourites before shutting and inviting interest from those who want to carry the brand forward.

SINGAPORE – Popular patisserie LUNA, famed for its intricate cakes and tarts, will be shuttering at the end of the year citing rising operating and ingredients costs.

The homegrown brand sells its desserts online and at Lucine by LUNA, a physical cafe opened at 111 Somerset in 2024. LUNA opened its first physical store on Amoy Street in 2020, but left the location in 2025.

In an Instagram post on Sept 28, it said: “It’s difficult to put this into words, but with very heavy hearts, we’re sharing that LUNA will be closing its doors on 31 December 2026.”

In response to queries from The Straits Times, a LUNA spokesperson said rising operational and ingredient costs had made it increasingly challenging to operate the brand sustainably.

“At the same time, we have not been able to find a suitable physical space that would allow us to house and grow LUNA in a way that feels right for the brand,” he said.

“It was not an easy decision, but we feel this is the right time to close this chapter while we can do so on our own terms,” he added.

Customers can continue to purchase LUNA’s cakes online till Dec 31. The cakes will also be available at Lucine’s outlet until then.

He added that Lucine will not be affected as it continues to run independently.

Ahead of its closure, LUNA said on Instagram that it will be bringing back crowd favourites and classic creations.

“If there’s something you’ve always wanted to try, or a favourite you’d love to have one more time, this is your chance,” it said.

It also said it would also like to hear from anyone who has “ever dreamed of carrying the brand forward”.

“To everyone who has ordered, celebrated, returned, recommended, and believed in us – thank you. We’ll always be grateful that you gave LUNA a place in your lives,” said the patisserie.

On Instagram, LUNA lovers shared their sadness about the patisserie’s closure.

One customer said their family “lives for your orh nee cake”, and that it’s their go-to for every birthdays.

“OMG THIS IS SO SAD! Can yall operate online or something?” asked another.

针对《海峡时报》的询问，LUNA 的一位发言人表示，不断上涨的运营成本和原料成本使得该品牌的可持续运营变得越来越具有挑战性。

“与此同时，我们一直未能找到合适的实体空间，让我们能够以一种符合品牌形象的方式来容纳和发展 LUNA，”他说。

“这不是一个容易的决定，但我们觉得现在是结束这一篇章的合适时机，趁我们还能按照自己的意愿来结束，”他补充道。

顾客可以继续在线购买LUNA的蛋糕，截止日期为12月31日。在此之前，Lucine的门店也将继续供应这些蛋糕。

他还补充说，Lucine 不会受到影响，因为它将继续独立运营。

在关门前，LUNA 在 Instagram 上表示，它将重新推出深受顾客喜爱的经典菜品和饮品。

“如果你一直想尝试某种东西，或者想再吃一次你最喜欢的东西，这就是你的机会，”它说。

该公司还表示，也希望听到任何“曾经梦想过将该品牌传承下去”的人的意见。

“感谢每一位订购过、庆祝过、再次光顾过、推荐过、并信任过我们的顾客——谢谢你们。我们将永远感激你们让LUNA在你们的生活中占据了一席之地，”这家糕点店说道。

在 Instagram 上，LUNA 的粉丝们表达了对这家糕点店关闭的悲伤之情。

一位顾客说，他们全家“都爱吃你们的蛋糕”，而且每次过生日都会点这个蛋糕。

“我的天哪，这太令人难过了！你们能不能改成线上办公之类的？”另一位网友问道。
