From October 1 to November 30, periodic partial road closures will occur on Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah in George Town to accommodate construction for the Mutiara Line LRT project.

These closures, occurring between 10pm and 5am, will facilitate tree cutting and relocation activities.

The affected areas include lanes near the Lorong Sungai Dua 1 residential area and Batu Uban RTD office.

Road users are advised to exercise caution, with traffic management measures like signage and flagmen in place to ensure safety.

GEORGE TOWN, Oct 1 — Long-term, periodic partial road closures on Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah here will be implemented from today until November 30 to facilitate construction work for the Mutiara Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) project in the area.

In a statement, Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) announced that the closures affecting the stretch from Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal to Batu Uban Road Transport Department (RTD) office will take place between 10pm and 5am to allow for tree cutting and relocation works.

“The closures will affect the leftmost lane between Lorong Sungai Dua 1 residential area and Batu Uban RTD office (towards Komtar), as well as the rightmost lane between Lorong Sungai Dua 1 residential area and Batu Uban RTD office in both directions.

“Additionally, the leftmost lane after the Sunny Point traffic light intersection up to Persiaran Batu Uban (towards Bayan Lepas) will be affected, however, other lanes will remain open as usual,” the statement read today.

Road users are advised to exercise caution when passing through the area. Signage, traffic cones, and flagmen will be deployed at the site to assist with traffic management and ensure the safety of motorists along the route. — Bernama
