Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim participated in the Pit Lane Walk at the Sepang International Circuit, as final preparations were underway for the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.

Accompanied by Youth and Sports Minister Dr. Mohammed Taufiq Johari and Chief Secretary Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Anwar toured the pit lane and met with teams.

This event sees Formula 1 return to Sepang after nine years, expecting over 200,000 spectators over the race weekend from October 2 to 4.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today joined the Pit Lane Walk at the Sepang International Circuit ahead of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, which gets under way tomorrow.

Anwar was seen walking through the pit lane and paddock area as Formula 1 teams made their final preparations for the three-day race weekend.

He was accompanied by Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.

Photographs released by Bernama showed the prime minister touring the pit lane, viewing equipment at team garages and greeting those gathered at the circuit.

The event offered guests a close-up look at preparations inside the pit lane before racing begins at Sepang from October 2 to 4.

The race marks Formula 1’s return to the Sepang International Circuit after a nine-year absence, with the venue last hosting a championship round in 2017.

Nearly 100,000 tickets have been sold for this weekend’s event, according to Sepang International Circuit, while more than 200,000 spectators are expected over the three days.

The circuit has undergone upgrades ahead of the race, which Malaysia is hosting under the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix banner.
