KUCHING, Oct 1 — Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) leaders have been reminded not to abuse their positions and instead carry out their responsibilities with integrity, accountability and fairness.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid said leadership was not a privilege to be used for personal gain but a major trust that must be discharged responsibly.

“Therefore, I urge that every decision made must be based on integrity, accountability and a sense of fairness,” he said at the handover ceremony for the Sarawak acting police commissioner and acting chairman of the Sarawak Contingent Persatuan Keluarga Polis (Perkep) at the Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters here today.

Earlier, he witnessed the handover of duties from PDRM Management Department director Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah, who was also the Sarawak police commissioner, to his deputy DCP Saifullizan Ishak before Mohamad Zainal begins his duties at Bukit Aman.

Abdul Aziz also reminded leaders not to oppress or mistreat their subordinate officers and personnel, but to guide, listen to and protect those under their charge.

He said leadership based on such values was important in creating a fair, harmonious and respectful working environment. — Bernama
