Malaysia is set for a weekend of major international and national sports events, as favorable weather prevails with only one monitoring station, Seri Manjung in Perak, reporting unhealthy air quality.

The Department of Environment noted that all other regions recorded moderate or good air quality, allowing key events like the Formula One race, Le Tour de Langkawi, and the Kuala Lumpur Marathon to proceed as planned.

Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil assured that the government is closely monitoring conditions to ensure the welfare of participants.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 — Malaysia is heading into a bumper weekend of major international and national sporting events with clear skies across almost the entire country, as only a single monitoring station recorded unhealthy air quality this morning.

Data from the Department of Environment (DoE) showed Seri Manjung in Perak as the nation's sole location in the unhealthy bracket as of 9am today, registering an Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 108.

Every other monitoring station across Malaysia recorded moderate or good air quality with readings of 100 or below, providing timely relief for organisers, athletes, and tens of thousands of spectators ahead of a packed sports calendar.

The cleared conditions mean flagship events, including the Formula One race at the Sepang International Circuit, Le Tour de Langkawi, and the Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon, are set to proceed as scheduled.

Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said earlier this week that the government expects all three major sporting fixtures to run without disruption, noting that the Youth and Sports Ministry is assessing atmospheric conditions daily to safeguard participant welfare.
