In a raid conducted on September 29 in Taman Keramat, Kuala Lumpur, eight police personnel and one civilian were arrested on suspicion of involvement in activities related to ketum water.

The arrests have been confirmed by Datuk Aida Abdul Hamid, Director of Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS), who assured that a transparent investigation is being managed by the Ampang Jaya District Police Headquarters.

The operation involved collaboration between Bukit Aman JIPS Intelligence and Operations Branch and the Ampang Jaya District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division, with the case currently under investigation under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 — Eight police personnel were among nine individuals arrested on suspicion of being involved in ketum water-related activities during a raid in Taman Keramat here on Sept 29.

Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) director Datuk Aida Abdul Hamid confirmed the arrests.

She said her department was closely monitoring the case and that a transparent investigation was being carried out by the Ampang Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD).

“Yes, Bukit Aman JIPS confirms the arrest of eight police personnel along with a civilian in an operation in Taman Keramat,” she said when contacted.

According to sources, the raid was conducted at 8.45pm at Jalan AU1, Taman Keramat here by the Bukit Aman JIPS Intelligence and Operations Branch and the Ampang Jaya District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division.

“The eight arrested personnel include seven attached to various branches under the Sentul District Police Headquarters (IPD), while another is attached to the Brickfields IPD. A civilian was also arrested,” the source said.

The source added that all suspects are being held at the Hulu Kelang Police Station lock-up and the case is being investigated under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952. — Bernama
