Oil retreats as market weighs mixed supply signals

SINGAPORE: Oil prices eased on Friday after a sharp climb a day earlier as the market refocused on signs of recovering Middle Eastern supplies, though the possibility of renewed US-Iran tensions provided a floor.

SINGAPORE: Oil prices eased on Friday after a sharp climb a day earlier as the market refocused on signs of recovering Middle Eastern supplies, though the possibility of renewed US-Iran tensions provided a floor.

Brent fell 70 cents, or 0.7%, to $101.61 a barrel at 0635 GMT, after trading slightly higher in early Friday trade. West Texas Intermediate dropped 85 cents, or 0.9%, to $92.02 a barrel. Both benchmark contracts were poised for a weekly decline.
