A fire broke out at a flat in Bukit Panjang on Sunday (Oct 4) morning.
The incident happened at about 9.35am at Block 479 Segar Road.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a Facebook post that the fire involved one of the bedrooms in a unit on the ninth floor.
Firefighters put out the fire using a water jet, SCDF said, adding that the fire was confined to the bedroom.
Police officers and firefighters also evacuated about 100 people from the block as a precautionary measure.
A person who had self-evacuated from the affected unit and two others from a neighbouring flat were assessed for smoke inhalation.
All three were later taken to the Singapore General Hospital, SCDF said.
Its preliminary findings indicate that the fire likely originated from an electrical source in the bedroom.
Homeowners and residents are reminded not to overload electrical outlets with electrical appliances, and to always switch off appliances that are not in use.
Batteries and devices should also not be left charging unattended for an extended period of time.
Last year, 34 fires occurred in residential premises, 10 fewer than in 2024.
Fires involving active mobility devices remain an area of concern, especially for those that occur in homes, SCDF said in its Emergency Medical Services, Fire and Enforcement Statistics 2025 report in February.
