Two boys courageously stepped up to extinguish a fire at Block 354B Admiralty Drive on Sunday (Oct 4) night at about 8.20pm.

A netizen submitted a video of the incident to Wake Up Singapore's Instagram account anonymously, commending the boys for their bravery and resourcefulness.

In the video, posted on Sunday night, a boy in a blue t-shirt can be seen running towards a recycling bin that had caught fire, with another boy in black trailing behind.

Both boys carried a fire extinguisher each and quickly put out the fire.

A person behind the camera can be heard reacting in surprise.

"Wow, how do they know what to do?" she said.

In the post's caption, the netizen described how the two "heroic" boys "sprung into action" to extinguish the fire.

"They were so brave and the fire was actually quite large," wrote the netizen, adding that they could smell the smoke from the fifth floor of the opposite block.

The netizen shared that they had already called the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) for assistance and they were on the way when they spotted the boys cleverly putting out the fire with extinguishers.

The netizen also said that the boys used a water hose from the nearby rubbish chute, which was not capture in the video, to fully snuff out the fire.

In response to AsiaOne's queries, the SCDF said that it was alerted to a fire at Block 354B Admiralty Drive on Oct 4 at around 8:20pm.

The SCDF confirmed that members of the public had extinguished the fire before any firefighters had arrived.

The fire involved the contents of a recycling bin at the ground floor and there were no reported injuries, according to SCDF.

It added that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
