MELAKA, Oct 5 — A 69-year-old woman was found dead in the front passenger seat of a Proton Saga parked at Taman Tasik Utama, Ayer Keroh, here yesterday.

Melaka Tengah district police chief ACP Halim Abas said in a statement today that the woman was found at about 4pm after she was discharged from Melaka Hospital, still wearing hospital clothes with her left arm in a sling.

“The victim was receiving treatment for a fractured left shoulder sustained in a fall at home. Her 44-year-old son received a call from Melaka Hospital at 1.50pm to take her home. She was wearing hospital clothes as she had no spare clothes,” he said.

Halim said the woman arrived at the car park at about 2.50pm but reportedly refused to get out of the car, adding that at 3.30pm, her 47-year-old neighbour found her unconscious, with one leg outside the vehicle.

He said the woman had a history of diabetes and had previously received treatment at Melaka Hospital, with an examination of her body finding no suspicious injuries and no criminal elements detected.

Halim said the case has been classified as sudden death, with a post-mortem examination scheduled at the Forensic Medicine Department of Melaka Hospital today. — Bernama
