Higher Education Minister Zambry Abd Kadir stressed the need for educational reforms to prepare students for a changing job market driven by rapid technological advancements.

The Perak Sejahtera Student Carnival 3.0 provides a platform for students to build networks and confidence, contributing to a competitive future generation of leaders.

IPOH, Sept 5 — The Malaysia Higher Education Plan (RPTM) 2026–2035 is focused on developing students who are not only academically competent but also grounded in strong values and good character.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said the goal of education is not merely to produce knowledgeable and skilled graduates, but to shape better individuals who are capable of navigating a changing world and the demands of the job market.

“The purpose of education is to make us better people. If we study but our character and behaviour worsen, then we have missed the point of education,” he said in a statement issued by Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) today.

He was speaking at the “Sembang Santai Bersama Doc Zam” session, held in conjunction with the Perak Sejahtera Student Carnival 3.0 at UPSI in Tanjong Malim yesterday.

Zambry emphasised that this humanity-centric approach is essential to ensure that academic excellence goes hand in hand with the development of students’ character and personal values.

He said rapid technological change, including advances in AI, large language models and computing technology, requires the higher education system to prepare students for an increasingly evolving job landscape.

“The challenges you face today are far more immense than those we encountered in our time. That is why we must make changes to the higher education system, so that you can equip yourselves to meet them,” he said.

He added that the RPTM, which charts the next decade of higher education, also introduces greater flexibility, enabling working adults to resume their studies and take advantage of the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) pathway.

On the Perak Sejahtera Student Carnival 3.0, he said the programme, which brought together 807 participants from institutions of higher learning and Form Six, is an important platform for building networks, confidence and a sense of unity among Perak’s youth.

Zambry said the participants, who came from various districts and ethnicities, embody the spirit of togetherness that must be nurtured further if Perak is to produce a competitive generation of future leaders.

Meanwhile, UPSI vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Md Amin Md Taff, in the same statement, said the programme provides an opportunity for Perak students to share experiences and draw inspiration from figures with extensive experience in leadership and higher education.

“Gatherings like these are important in shaping a younger generation capable of becoming future leaders and, in turn, contributing to the nation’s development,” he said. — Bernama

怡保，9月5日讯——马来西亚高等教育计划（RPTM）2026-2035 的重点是培养不仅学术能力强，而且价值观和品格高尚的学生。

高等教育部长拿督斯里赞布里·阿卜杜勒·卡迪尔博士表示，教育的目标不仅仅是培养知识渊博、技能娴熟的毕业生，而是塑造能够适应不断变化的世界和就业市场需求的优秀人才。

“教育的目的是让我们成为更好的人。如果我们学习了知识，但我们的品格和行为却变差了，那么我们就失去了教育的意义，”他在今天苏丹依德里斯教育大学（UPSI）发表的一份声明中说道。

他昨天在丹绒马林 UPSI 与霹雳 Sejahtera 学生嘉年华 3.0 同期举行的“Sembang Santai Bersama Doc Zam”会议上发表上述讲话。

Zambry强调，这种以人为本的方法对于确保学术卓越与学生品格和个人价值观的培养齐头并进至关重要。

他表示，包括人工智能、大型语言模型和计算技术在内的快速技术变革，要求高等教育体系为学生应对不断变化的就业环境做好准备。

他说：“你们今天面临的挑战远比我们那个时代遇到的挑战要巨大得多。正因如此，我们必须改革高等教育体系，使你们能够做好应对这些挑战的准备。”

他还补充说，RPTM 规划了高等教育的下一个十年，也引入了更大的灵活性，使在职成年人能够重返校园，并利用先前经验学习认证 (APEL) 途径。

在霹雳州学生嘉年华 3.0 上，他表示，该项目汇聚了来自高等院校和中六学生的 807 名参与者，是霹雳州青年建立人脉、增强自信和团结意识的重要平台。

赞布里表示，这些来自不同地区和族裔的参与者体现了团结精神，如果霹雳州想要培养出具有竞争力的未来领导人，就必须进一步培养这种精神。

与此同时，UPSI副校长拿督莫哈末阿明莫哈末塔夫教授在同一份声明中表示，该计划为霹雳州的学生提供了一个分享经验的机会，并从在领导和高等教育方面拥有丰富经验的人士身上汲取灵感。
