The case is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department at Bukit Aman under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which covers voluntarily causing hurt.

Those convicted under the provision face up to one year in prison, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.

PDRM said the investigation was being conducted transparently, professionally and impartially, based on witness statements and evidence gathered to ensure all aspects of the incident were examined thoroughly.

The investigation papers will be referred to the Attorney General’s Chambers on October 6 for consideration, advice and further directions, in accordance with Article 145(3) of the Federal Constitution.

The public has also been advised against making speculation or drawing conclusions that could affect the ongoing investigation and legal process.
